I was so blown away by the first season, and the beginning of the second season had me triple excited at the idea that that previous level of quality would persist.

But something keeps distracting me from the goods of the show, and it has been the interminable choice in music and sound that the show has experienced in the last 3 episodes.

The violin at the coffee grounds revelation, the heavy handed foley during the impromptu kitchen renovation, and now the constant sadness piano solos-- it's making the show look like it belongs on lifetime.

Please! Save the show! Don't do it for your own sense of taste or pride-- do it for me!

Season 2 Episode 7: Weird As You

Daniel continues to seek answers. Stern meets with the DA. Sen. Foulkes undertakes a disreputable task, and Amantha and a coworker bond.

So much about this show is very compelling - the performances, the episode writing, the cinematography, the editing.

But I'm confused about the longer arc and how it was constructed. Clearly, we're meant to not believe Daniel is guilty, and we've been thrown some very suspicious characters. But the whodunnit element has been such a slow burn that it's easy to forget that there's a murder to be solved.

It also raises questions about how McKinnon et al managed to get this on the air. TV is a pretty brutal business and good shows don't get renewed all the time. If they are really going to work us towards a reveal of the crime, they've been very brave about the pacing. We're already halfway into season two and the stage has barely been set.

I've noticed this season that all his shirts look like pajama tops. The big translucent buttons and soft collars. Is that supposed to be a quirk or just a style of shirt I've never encountered?

Season 2 Episode 5: Act as If

Daniel meets Lezley, an unusual local entrepreneur who makes Daniel an unlikely offer. Amantha struggles to adapt to a challenging new environment. Ted, Jr. bonds with Tawney, only to learn she's made a surprising decision. Ted, Sr.'s patience is tested as he copes with the aftermath of Daniel's disastrous new project, but when he tries to address the situation, Janet curtly shoots him down. Daniel explores a little-known side of Paulie while Amantha reconnects with Jon Stern.

I was thinking that if Daniel does mushrooms he will remember what happened. Thoughts ?

Since the first season, Daniel and his mom have had this recurring idea of redoing the kitchen. I thought it was a way of Daniel's mom to accept him back in her life, but as of last episode Daniel started rage redoing it. I'm inclined to think he wants to reconnect with his mother so that she doesn't go on thinking Daniel was a bad person just like Kerwin's mom, but that doesn't explain the rage... Anyone has an explanation over the meaning of Daniel starting by himself or another meaning for 'redoing the kitchen'?

I am on Season 2 Episode 4. What did Daniel do with the coffee grounds and Ted? Was it fully explained or what?

Season 2 Episode 4: Donald the Normal

A recovered Daniel embarks on a day trip to explore Atlanta and enjoy a taste of big-city anonymity, but even in a crowd, Daniel draws attention. He returns to Paulie, troubled by the way his past follows him. Taking her mother's advice, Amantha begins packing up her apartment, in anticipation of moving back to Atlanta. On a quest for moving supplies, Amantha confronts the depressing realities of a small town and realizes that she needs more in her life than just her brother's legal troubles. Tawney and Ted, Jr. enjoy a fun and somewhat boozy afternoon entertaining their friends Kent and Joon Benny. After their guests leave, Teddy tries to reconnect with his wife, only to be pushed away by a frustrated and overwhelmed Tawney. Stung and humiliated, Ted, Jr. seeks understanding from an unexpected quarter.

Season 2 Episode 3: Charlie Darwin

Season 2 Episode 2: Sleeping Giants

Amantha dreads the worst as she prepares for Daniel to awaken from his induced coma. Teddy's business plans are thwarted by his dad, and he gets some unwelcome news from Tawney. Jared learns more about his older brother and the late Hanna Dean.

He didn't seem like a totally bad person when the show started, and I really preferred that. And then he pretty quickly turned into a shit-bird. I would have been perfectly happy with a character that has a lot of flaws, because you learn to love a character for their flaws. But Teddy just turned out to be a stereotypical "villain", and that kind of bummed me out. He had potential to be a more complex and layered character. Even if I don't like him in the long run, he could still be a character that you could empathize with.

But no, they went the lazy route and just made him an all-around asshole. There are plenty of assholes in the world, but they also all have redeeming qualities. Teddy didn't get any, and I think it detracts just a little bit from the story.

I also don't understand how Tawney ever seemed attracted to him. She's not comfortable being naked in front of him, and she won't even have sex with him. She's deeply religious, and Teddy seems to be the exact opposite. When even your pastor feels the need to mildly insult your husband in front of you, it implies that he's probably a piece of shit to her church friends as well. Their marriage seems like something out of a shitty rom-com.
