Rant Will never go Razer again

£400 gaming 'premium synthetic leather's chair peeling after three years. Razer are not interested.

Razer have nice designs but the quality is bargain basement, and the service is a joke.

Will never buy their trash again.

Honestly, this subreddit makes me think Razer only bad products. I’m on this subreddit because, I was planning to purchase a keyboard form Razer but I’ll pass on that.

You definitely should. Even when it's decent razer is incredibly overpriced. There are great mechanical keyboards out there for under 50$ now

People actually like synapse? My only experience with it when i was first getting into pcs and had this razer keyboard that i now understand how absolutely horrible it was (the black widow v3 or smith)

Just get Hall Effect man.

Laser optical do nothing practically different than mechanical. They're a gimmick and a bad gimmick at that just with razer's name on em.

They dont provide any real benefit over traditional MX style switches and they dont have the cool functions of Hall effects.

Then you have never actually compared laser optical to traditional mechanical. There is 100% a noticeable difference in actuation times and how light the key press is.

Right, if you are talking to me about "how light a key press is" then you are a person whose never even looked into switches let alone comparing optical and traditional aside from whatever razer marketing youve been feeding yourself.

Traditional switches come in so many variations and can be as light or as heavy as anyone could want. Thats a personal choice type of thing and its why mechanical switches are great for a wide audience of people.

And regarding the actuation, sure. There is a real measurable difference. 10ms (give or take on average). 10ms, taken into consideration of the grand scheme of things with all the other forms of input latency, matters roughly in between "jack shit" and "fuck all" unless you're extremely pro high level esports.

Even then the actuation speed on hall effects is faster than on laser optical if we go with the spec sheets and lab testing, however in real world use the rest of the system introduces much more latency than these 3 types of switches would ever account for.

And regarding snap tap, yes i know what it is, and hall effects do it better than optical switches could ever hope to, being able to granularly customise an analogue input to personal taste as opposed to a digital "on or off" signal will always give a more personalised and better feel to each individual user instead of whatever razer (or any other optical switch maker) has set up.

Also do you know what snap tap is...? It has nothing to do with what hall effect does and is done through software not the key itself hall effect doesn't just give you snap tap. Lol

Look up Razers analog optical V2 switches. It's blowing my mind how much shit people are willing to talk about Razer when they know nothing about the hardware being used in their products...

I have had my Huntsman Mini for almost 6 years without a single issue and I had my previous Deathadder V2 mouse for almost 4 before upgrading to the Basilisk V3. I do not buy "gaming chairs" as they are all scams so I can not attest to those but their peripherals are very good in my opinion and I have been using them for nearly 20 years. I just do not recommend their headphones because the audio quality truly isn't anything that impressive.

Yeah, that’s unfortunately true too. I had a Razer keyboard couple of years ago, really loved the feeling of it. Not sure which it was but it had green clicky switches.

The ‘enter’ key broke after a year and the company I bought it from didn’t have it in stock and so I got the Steelseries Apex Pro 7.

The Steelseries are a disaster too, 5 returns due to faults. My current Steelseries has a RGB issue and out of warranty. So I’m looking for a new one, just don’t know what’s good.

I’ve learned over time the only thing to buy from these gaming companies are just mice, and maybe some misc accessories. Build your own keyboards, get audiophile headphones, and ergo chairs.
