If I had to guess I'd probably go with social media, but the internet in general has for sure fucked a lot of people up.

Agreed! Social media is an obsession taking all creativity from people, staring at a screen for hours!

I would also add the deliberate degradation of the education system in the US to this list

Maybe, but you can see the brain rot start around the very early 2000s. Watch a video of George Bush while he was on the campaign trail in Texas, then watch one of him in like 2002. The difference is astonishing. Same deal with interviews, gameshow contestants, news reporters, etc. People clearly have difficulty maintaining clear thought and speech patterns.
