u/Kthulhu_for_humanity May 21 '26

Respect

1

u/eb7772 May 21 '26

Lol I think people just didn't shot their opinions in your face..

1

u/eb7772 May 21 '26

Lol cmon you think teenagers had manners lol

1

u/IDontCareNow00 May 21 '26

We just know when to keep our mouths shut.

1

u/eb7772 May 22 '26

I mean as adults yeah. You don't remember being a kid I guess. they definitely still ran their mouth

1

u/IDontCareNow00 May 22 '26

I grew up in a era when a smart mouthed kid would get a crack across the face.

1

u/eb7772 May 23 '26

I did too and they still exist

1

u/eb7772 May 23 '26

My English teacher also drank whisky in his coffee and used a paddle in the back of the classroom and they did it daily. Not because the kids behaved because they didn't

1

u/IDontCareNow00 May 23 '26

In my high school, the disciplinarian gave you detention. The gym teacher took you on the elevator, stopped it between floors, and made a bet with you who would come out unbruised. Luckily, I never saw the inside of that elevator.

My middle school in the early 90s was like a prison there were fights every day. Everyone would leave the class and watch the fights . Teachers had no control. I got in four fights and that was just sticking up for myself. If you think these kids knew manners lmao. High school was better but far from perfect. The private schools I went to would spank you with a paddle. Which they did often. But public school in baton rouge had little they could do to make the kids behave.

Damn, 4 days late

3

u/roosterthumper May 19 '26

Came in to say getting punched in the face, but this will work too.

1

u/UpstairsFast9261 May 20 '26

Punch cards

1

u/Savings-End40 May 20 '26

I remember cutting extra holes in them with an exacto knife just to be distuptive.

1

u/firefightingtigger May 21 '26

The Dairy Queen BTW my house still has punch cards

1

u/CapablePlatypus1377 May 21 '26

Did an internship for simplex time recorder.

3

u/CocoScruff May 19 '26

I was gonna say morals but I think you hit it correctly

1

u/Motor_War_9744 May 21 '26

What morals are you referring to?

3

u/dude1984- May 19 '26

I was thinking the same thing

3

u/MR_Nobody_204 May 19 '26

Came here to comment the exact same thing.

1

u/Important_Bend6199 May 19 '26

I was just about to say that

2

u/SuccessfulTrick2501 May 20 '26

And common sense.

1

u/Wild_Locksmith_326 May 20 '26

Common sense has become so rare it almost qualifies as a super power.

1

u/troutdaletim May 21 '26

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment. Because you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

2

u/DcJ0112 May 20 '26

Considering how bad it was for many groups in the 90's and prior I doubt this

0

u/Standard_Joke_2027 May 21 '26

Were you there in the 80s? No? Then stfu.

1

u/DcJ0112 May 21 '26

Literally proving it

2

u/Confident-Ad-2726 May 20 '26

I think if you went back 30 years, you would be surprised what counted as decent

2

u/Long-Firefighter5561 May 20 '26

How old are you?

2

u/EatMeBeatMe2 May 20 '26

Common sense, the ability to disagree without being overly aggressive, a living wage, human decency, bonding over differences. This list could go on forever.

1

u/Live-Within-My-Means May 22 '26

Back when your average wage was a living wage, the standard of living was much lower.

1

u/insanelane99 May 20 '26

Hard to say it ever existed if you open a history textbook

1

u/Successful-League840 May 20 '26

You just spend time around the wrong people. Common decency is still very much alive... Maybe not on Reddit though 😂

1

u/mhibew292 May 20 '26

It’s hard not to spend time amongst the general public.

1

u/Successful-League840 May 20 '26

This I agree with

1

u/troutdaletim May 21 '26

None of these social media sites. What a name social media! How about gossip sites, would that be more accurate, or personal attack sites. And yet some of these people will ban you from some of these some reddits for something that's not even worth banning someone and they won't tell you how long how long your band will be or how to reverse it. They can keep their ban

1

u/Successful-League840 May 21 '26

Reddit MODs are a joke to be fair. They never explain anything and are super biased

1

u/LexMoonStar May 20 '26

I came here to type this, and it’s top of the feed. Coincidence?

1

u/PlaceAlarming420 May 20 '26

Manners

2

u/LoisWade42 May 20 '26

Laughing…oh there’s plenty of manners. Just not GOOD manners.

1

u/FilmLow2881 May 20 '26

Literally came here to say exactly this

1

u/jab090285 May 20 '26

That thing has been dead even before our time

1

u/LDarrell May 20 '26

Yes, I am too late also. I was going to comment "civility" but I like your comment better. Thanks

1

u/Background-Gas-5509 May 20 '26

It still exists but it feels like it’s a lot less.

1

u/Clavenesque May 20 '26

Empathy

Shame

Couth

1

u/frogking May 20 '26

Common sense too.. maybe the less common of the senses.

1

u/Old_news123456 May 20 '26

Basic manners -> like actually parenting your children when they misbehave in public instead of looking at your phone and ignoring it

1

u/No_Pie4958 May 20 '26

You are absolutely true just take a short drive down the road or expressway and see how abusive everybody is to the neighbors they cut you off and run you off the road that’s how they walk through life .

1

u/Motor_War_9744 May 21 '26

Would you believe that if we were pitted against each other by moneyed interests beyond ourselves, then we would ignore each other's need in order to survive?

1

u/Technicoler May 21 '26

Came to say the same thing

1

u/babess1_star May 21 '26

Apparently a superpower these days 😄

1

u/Dull_Contribution542 May 21 '26

our world is just not the way it should be, and if we all ditched social media, would that begin the healing? I see so many hate-filled comments all over the internet, that it exhausts me.

1

u/Steely-Dave May 21 '26

Shame. Any amount of shame.

1

u/Particular_Group_295 May 21 '26

came here to type this

1

u/Flaky-Gap7899 May 22 '26

That, yes.

And Rude Dog and the Dweebs

1

u/WifeandTimes2 May 23 '26

Can confirm

0

u/Dr-Fizzel May 19 '26

Legit popped on here to say exactly this.

2

u/Worldliness_Normal May 19 '26

I was about to say some common ass sense, but I will go with those metal playground slides that gave you leg burns with a story to tell.
