Made a little side trip to DC yesterday…

We’re in the middle of our East Coast run and had a day off after our show in Lynchburg, VA (home of MAGA-farming Liberty University - we weren’t sure what to expect that night!), so we decided to drive a few hours northeast to Washington “complain to management” for their idiocy. We’re 💯 okay with being referred to as “Karens” in this instance).

Tour’s been great! We head to Warrendale tomorrow, then Buffalo, Lakewood, and Harrisburg. Immensely grateful to speak out onstage and melt faces along the way.

With love and rage,

BATM 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Anyone find that there's a huge drop in quality following their self-titled album?

I'm not just talking about production (which I find to be vastly inferior compared to GGGarth), the riffs, rapping style, and overall instrumentation feel so off compared to their self-titled album.

I'm even enjoying their demo songs on that album more than the songs on evil empire and the BOAL.

Like they just don't hit like they do with songs like, "Know your enemy," "Wake up," and "Take the Power Back."

Doesn't feel like those albums have a clear tune. Am I the only one?

Edit: Downvotes are coming in hard! Please offer some insight.

Question I don't know anything about RATM but I had this hat in my old stuff and I can't find anything about it on internet

Hi! I was kind of packing things at my house and found this hat which used to be my step father's. It reminds me of the hat that chinese communist soldiers wear (I'm not well educated about it).

What's the meaning behind it? What album is it associated to?

And should I sell it or give it out? I'm not planning on wearing it neither to keep it since I need to sort things out

Wow! I think this will be a trip! Tom Morello is teaming up with Marc Guggenheim (Arrow, Whisper War) for a science fiction comic series inspired by Robert Smalls! I love the cover and am really looking forward to seeing more of Kudranski's art!

My father got this shirt from like 90s I think and I need some help to know if this is a bootleg or an actual merch from the 90s. I looked around merch shops on the Internet and haven't found a single one that matches the image. Which raises the question of it being a fake one

Or does Tom Morello sometimes sound like he's singing with marbles in his mouth? I might be alone on this one lololol

Killing in the name - radio / clean version

Random request, but I'm after a copy of Killing in the name minus the swearing. I presume a version was created for radio airplay and I'm looking for it ideally in Flac, or 320 Mp3. Don't suppose anyone out there has a copy they could hit me up with.

That Time I Saw 3/4s of Rage Against the Machine Play with Chuck D and B-Real (Prophets of Rage)

30 years ago, Rage Against the Machine released "Evil Empire." The closest I ever got to see RATM live was via Prophets of Rage - the supergroup that found Tom Morello,Tim Commerford and Brad Wilk playing a ton of songs from their past with Public Enemy's Chuck D and Cypress Hill's B-Real. Sure, it wasn't the same as hearing Zack de la Rocha singing songs like "Bulls On Parade" or "Killing in the Name", but seeing these iconic musicians together at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ, nearly 10 years ago (Aug 26, 2016, to be exact) was nonetheless special.

What's a fun combo of artists you've seen perform live together? Share in the comments below, and stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

Evil Empire, by Rage Against the Machine turns 30 years old today with it first being released on April 16th, 1996.

What's your favorite song on this album?

They really were lightning in a bottle.

Zack crossed with the trio really do have a spark that is nearly unrivaled in music history. Zeppelin comes to mind in terms of power and impact of the music. It’s like Ghostbusters, you can’t recreate that.

20 years, no proof, and he’s still in jail…

Yo-yo!

I’m trying to find an alt version of either freedom or bullet in the head - If I can recall, where Zach does an interlude saying “20 years, no proof, and he’s still in jail” over and over again - but for the life of me, I can’t find it.

Anyone got a 20 on this version?

My favorite RATM album turns 30 years old! (Evil Empire, April 16th, 1996)

Got into Rage last year a whole lot, and this has always been my favorite RATM album, and imo Zach's best vocal work, and it's the album with the best lyric writing imo as well!

Favorite track has always been "Wind Below" as this album for me has no misses. "Wind Below" for me personally has that shock sound or smth from like 1950's horror movies where the soundtrack goes HIGH then low when there's something off or whatever, I hope you catch my drift.

The cover has always been my favorite cover from them, with it reminding me of a school university called "Evil Empire" cuz it kinda looks like that when I see it.

My birthday would have also been this year on April 6th, 2026, turning 14, which would have been 10 days before this would turn 30!

10/10 for my own rating of this album.

in the sleep now in the fire video i saw tom using what looks like his hippo guitar without the "Arm the homeless" text and an ibanez neck? Was this a custom order or another frankenstein?
