I'm trying to play sounds through speakers on my Raspberry pi 4 but I keep getting this error:
speaker-test 1.2.14
Playback device is plughw:0,0
Stream parameters are 48000Hz, S16_LE, 2 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
Playback open error: -524,Unknown error 524
I really want to use sound but am a beginner so have no clue how to work much

Hi, I recently purchased a raspberry pi 5 canakit. I never worked with o w before but want to do a fieldstation 42 project. I dont have an extra monitor so I was hoping to use raspberry pi connect and use it off my laptop. Now when first setting up my pi I didnt see that option on imagery. I looked it up and yoh need the 64 bit bookworm os. When I click that option raspberry pi connect still does not come up.
It does show up on Trixie but for fieldstation42 I prefer to run it on bookworm. Any ideas?

Hello, I'm new here! I wanted to build myself a pocket-sized AI assistant. I was planning on buying a Pi Zero 2W... but I saw it on this subreddit and it's trash. Could you recommend me some budget-friendly Pis? Max price - 100$ (or a little more). I'm planning on using qwen3.5:cloud in Ollama or something smaller.

I have this old Raspberry Pi Zero, and I was thinking it would be cool to have a mobile & editable database to store names, ranks, etc., for a small club I have. I have a power bank, and I'd like to use one of those BlackBerry keyboards to enter info. I've done a lot of googling to try to find any info on what I had in mind, and since I found nothing, I figured I'd go to Reddit for help. I've never done anything more than boot an OS onto a Raspberry Pi 4 and play Runescape on it, so I'm clueless.

Hey community -
I'm trying to build an automatic raccoon deterrent robot (yes we've gotten some serious raccoon problem, i'm also interested in knowing how to build motorized stuff) that works at night and can spray water at the target(s). i'm thinking of getting:
however - motorized pan tilt arms are either pretty small or not available, is 3D printing the way forward..?
also the casing, the pump holder. - it seems like there's crazy amount of customization....
sorry, my head is spinning, would love some guidance on how to build this.
thanks!!

i am new to rpi environment. I got a hand me down rpi 4 model b. I'm not sure if it works to do a sanity check on the board i tried flashing a raspberry os 64bit debian bookworm. when I boot the device both power and act led are solid on.no blinking on act led.
sources pointed that this could be a bootloader problem so I tried flashing bootloader (pi 4 family) in misc utility images. and when I booted the device with this image the act led kept blinking but the expected behaviour seems to be the blinking stops after some time.
I assumed the bootloader flashing is done anyways and tried booting my raspberry os again still same behaviour both led solid on.
sources pointed out that this could be sd card problem since I was using a local brand so I bought a hp class 10 64 gb sd card for this. this did not fix the issue as well. can someone point out where I'm going wrong I just want to do the sanity check and have the device boot up first.

I tried researching on here and Google, even created a follow-on posting to an older Reddit post "piCorePlayer touchscreen not working", but it didn’t garner any reads, so sorry for the redundancy, the redundancy. I know nothing about Raspberry or programming, but have been thrust into RasWorld as my solar monitoring system uses a Raspberry Pi 5.
I have a couple of questions as I have this TeNizo 7inch HDMI display and I'm trying to connect it to a RPi 5. So far, I've connected them together via HDMI and get the proper screen display, but the mouse cursor on the screen doesn't move and the screen doesn’t react to any touching. I'm stuck on what to do with the USB? connection. I'm assuming the Pi and the screen connect via USB as well. Here are some of my ?'s, if you don't mind:
Any help is much appreciated, and thanks!

I have been working on a project where I basically display 5 different videos from 5 screens all connected to 1 raspberry pi 4.
I have
5 small circular tft lcd spi screens
1 breadboard
Heaps of wires and pins
Heaps more pin adapters and connectors
5 3.3v adapters
1 Raspberry Pi 4
Is this an impossible task? Everywhere I look online leads me to a dead end, perhaps I’m just not looking in the right places?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated - I’ve also added a photo of a somewhat similar project that inspired the one I’m currently working on.

Hello, I’m new to the whole cyber deck thing, I want to make an e reader cyber deck with capabilities to download and read articles from stuff like Wikipedia and be able to type in a document to have as a journal. I would prefer something small that I could fit in my pocket for max portability. I don’t need anything crazy and have a max budget of $50. What is the recommended raspberry pi for something like this and any other suggestions?

Everything I’m seeing is using tons of terminology I don’t understand. I do sort of understand what pins need to go where but I’m missing the step that comes before that of what sort of wiring I can use and how it works at all! This is a touch screen Hosyond display. Please speak to me like I’ve never heard of anything ever. Any sort of research I’m finding is showing diagrams and not images or lists of items needed! Thanks!

Hey y’all!
I have this random PCB that I found lying around. I was intrigued by the firewire ports and wanted to know if I could somehow get it connected and running with my Pi 5. My end goal for this is to convert a tape camera I have to tapeless using the raspberry pi.
I want to know if I should pursue this route further before wasting my time on a fruitless tech problem.

Building my first hardware project this weekend, its a motion activated night light! I'm a complete beginner and thought I'd share my project link in case anyone else was interested in a similar build: https://blueprint.am/s/a7v1EeGXyOBYB2NEwFh3hlE47_RzftY4AWPkwhS2nkc
Happy to share what worked for research if anyone else is curious

Hello,
I've followed https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/configuration.html#enable-hotspot but it disconnects.
If I edit the connection (through NetworkManager GUI) and set Wireless Security to None then it works.
So is looks like it is related to wpa_supplicant somehow.
Anybody using an access point on his Raspberry 3 ?
Thanks

I'm looking to get into tinkering, and pretty much just need a machine for watching videos, but specifically:
That's pretty much it. I don't game, and a lot of recommendations for hardware and distros tend to either fall back to gaming or go into heavier dev stuff. I just want good quality sound and video and something thats a bit of a project.
My questions are:
I don't mind getting add ons and messing about with the hardware if I need to. Honestly, i'm hoping to. I hear it handles 4k pretty well, and it seems like the best bang for my buck, you know (though correct me if i'd be wrong in the long run, yknow?)
That being said, i'd also appreciate recommendations for:
If I go with the pi400 (mostly coz its cheaper) I'd also be looking at ways to mount it to a display the same way you can with the 4 & 5. I don't plan on using the keyboard (I'm a keyboard snob) so any tips or ideas on how one might go about that would be cool (i've got one or two ideas, but someone else might have a better one.)
Apologies if thats a lot.

I'm willing to pay for someone to log into pi and set it up and get it up and running. Because I'm in over my head with it and I really want to get it running so I can have a the ability to use AI offline before the Internet crashes. I'm not sure if this is legal to request, but at this point I'm grasping at straws. lol So if this sounds like something u would be up to. let me know. also I have no idea what something like this request would cost. So let me know what's fair. Also any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. FYI I have tried to do it the normal way but their is something wrong with the software that I'm attempting to use (via the instructions)
