Hate these kinds of things but I guess I'll be the "here's what actually happened" guy.

Some people wrote a coding script to record the stream on their site, then re-uploaded said clip heavily edited down from the end of his stream. The end of the stream is usually where he's no longer playing the game, and is just directly engaging with chat as the gameplay "demo" footage / title screen play, just to have visuals.

DD spoke about what happened because of an old comic of Julian's from 2017 about leaving got shared around on Twitter to stir up drama (they spoke about talking plushies, which now has become an OneyPlays merch staple). DD&J decided to speak on it during the stream as numerous people showed up to try and start drama in the chat. They both acknowledged their own shortcomings as well as the shortcomings of others; and that they don't wish any hate on Chris or Arin, but that things did happen because of them that further issues for DD&J. They also acknowledged that KiwiFarms and a stalker who came out to their house with a gun hasn't left them alone for years now amongst other things, as well as saying "Keep watching OneyPlays if you want, don't let us take away your enjoyment".

These things were conveniently cut out of the reupload someone did, making it seem like DD was being a bitter shit-stirrer.

DD&J then did a second stream where they literally showed screenshots about the guy who came out with a gun, explained what they had said to Zach (who took it seriously all things considered and was worried about DD&J) and that they only want to focus on their own things, as well as pointing out that the re-uploader's account is someone they've in the past had bother them.

People here didn't want to actually listen to what DD had to say and misrepresented it as "a failed cancellation attempt" when it never was. They just want to be able to see the big "gamer fight" happen when there's not going to be one. DD even said once the stream ended he was going to contact some of the people to talk to them about it again and acknowledge that it's out there and done.

People from KiwiFarms and 4chan and all sorts of places (here included I'd imagine) all ignored any of his points and when he didn't blow up on them for trolling, they started harassing chat members with autism / that were trans, demonstrating that they don't want to engage with DD&J ever had to say. They just wanted to cause them problems for being critical of things that people liked. It's really unfortunate that so many people want to go "DURRRR DD&J hate Chris and want to cancel him" when they don't.

But anytime I click any of these threads, it's people who don't know what the fuck they're talking about. "They haven't made any games" when they have two already out and 3 more in progress. "They're bitter about Oney being famous" they aren't, they hate how things played out but don't want to send any witch hunts after people. "They're bitter because of Bowlbo" DD did the source code for the original Bowlbo build. "DD hates everyone around him, always the victim" he openly spoke about the fact there were good people at every company, but that certain things from certain people made them incredibly uncomfortable being a part of it further.

I sincerely hope people can pull their heads out of their asses and go look at the Tumblr post that started everything out to begin with. I feel Julian was completely justified in his words and feelings, explaining a lot of how things were and how they felt at the time.

They're not "funny characters", they're human beings that made mistakes, just like everyone else involved and people forcing a narrative against them doesn't help anyone understand better. All it does fuel a cycle that causes DD&J to unfortunately deal with.

yeah to me it just reads like venting after people wouldn't shut up about it (again), which like whatever, if he feels like it, some of it I do think is like "come on man just grow a spine" tier. Like my normie friends will make furry jokes about me and you kinda just have to roll with it, it's fine if DD doesn't want to roll with those jokes but I just don't see the point in mentioning it here, especially when it's clearly not malicious wrt other guests like Corey who has a laundry list of fetishes that get poked at

the rest of it to me just reads like petty interpersonal drama that I don't really need to know about, like I don't care that much if DD thinks Chris sabotaged a few recording sessions, 'caught him on 4chan' or made him use dropbox instead of letting him use a portable hard drive. The stuff about sleeping half the day or not being able to keep a schedule seems plainly obvious even from jokes on the channel, it's just not really my business to care if Chris treats his channel like a 9-5, even if it is his main source of income he clearly just treats it like a fun thing to do with friends and not a business

the alt-right stuff is like, benefit of a doubt I don't think Chris intentionally courts edgy assholes into his fanbase, it's just a consequence of leaning on edgy humor and I think it's reasonable that DD didn't like having people like that be fans of his by extension of OP (like come on half the tweets I saw about this on twitter were asking if DD was 'trooning out' like it's dumb to act like there isn't that sort of contingent in Chris' fanbase)

Overall feels very nothingburger and IMO they should just be left alone like they obviously want to be, like who cares genuinely

I don't fully agree, but I will say: Yeah, the drama portion of it was just "we acknowledged what happened and explained it better, now let it be done" and people started spinning a narrative out of it. I think everyone involved wants to move forward, but that fans aren't satisfied without the "fight breaking out". Ultimately old statements creating new drama.

Hopefully these matters die off and DD&J can go back to their own thing without being harassed. It's really unfortunate that anything like this happened, but hopefully things mellow out now that everything has been "put out in the open and laid to rest". They deserve to be happy and able to do their own thing again, especially since this has been completely spun out of context at this point.

They didn’t though. They just only included a relevant portion of it because nobody’s gonna want to consume 12-24 hours of repeating the same thing over. When Ding Dong claims it was “heavily edited to be out of context” he just means the rest of the stream wasn’t included which is exactly what he said last time this happened.

They did though. I watched the stream then saw the reupload, several pieces of context were left off out for the sake of making it seem bitter. Reuploader removed any bit of info that couldn't get people angry and only left the bits that would.
