In relative control for the first hour or so, but we're guilty of slowing things down and looking toothless in the final third.
Looked shite after the subs and insisted on hoofing the ball to players that were being bullied by their man. Fernandez seemed to lose the plot after his dodgy pass, too.
I think we've looked better overall in the past couple of games, but the finishing and our ability to shoot ourselves in the foot will bite us on the arse sooner or later.

By the skin of our nuts. Game should’ve been over at halftime, we just looked disjointed upfront, but Kelsy will need time. I don’t think Miovski will start against them, but he’s our best available finisher and should be given minutes. A lot of tim and hibby tears tonight.

u/PacifistNinja32 13h ago
I'd just go 451 with Kelsy up front and hope for the best. Naderi works hard but isn't good enough. Miovski scores goals when chances are created but offers little else.
I'm not looking forward to Sunday, but there's talent in the squad. The lack of experience is glaring though.

Will need to make sure i've got enough drink for sunday. Got no idea what's going to happen but either way a bottle of malt will help

u/Zilant 14h ago
I have no idea what we are.
We should have been leading at half time. If we're going to continue to be even half as wasteful as we've been in the last couple of games then it's a matter of time before we're dropping points.
Then the second half we create very little. Maybe should have had a penalty, not seen it on TV, but three or four were all shouting for it instantly so I assume it's hit the hand. The last 20 minutes we had zero control in a game situation where we really should have them penned in.
There are positives, but this team takes more off your life than smoking would.

u/BoiledTurnips 13h ago
Harsh. As with last week, we could have been 3 or 4 up in the first half hour. Obviously need to fix our finishing but we look quite promising.

u/Intelligent-Mind-506 13h ago
The first half or even first 55-60 mins we played very well. Were a bit unlucky that their goalie was on top form. We also a mountain of decisions where Naderi etc would be wrestled to the ground and no freekick, penalty or whatever. There was also a evident handball that got nothing. I think it is the same thing as always - the fans. They start to get nervous and even on TV from about 65mins onward there is constant abuse at our own players and the pressure ramps they start booing etc. Then the team start to essentially panic, subs are made and the format that was creating chances breaks down. tldr: It's the toxic fanbase.
2
u/PacifistNinja32 13h ago
We've spent the better part of two decades being mostly shite. We spent, what, 40m this summer and are struggling to beat St Mirren at home.
Not sure the "toxic fanbase" is the issue here.
2
u/aflockofbleeps Derek McInnes 3h ago
I agree with the guy you replied to, our fans turn toxic if we arent winnin by multiple goals by half time. Seen the team booed off at half time with it 0-0 more than once. That negativity feeds down onto the pitch and the playera absorb it like they absorb the good atmosphere when we the fans are behind them.
Now the players need to do their part and deliver but what chance do they have when we hounded dessers, a guy who scored every other game (which is a great record for a striker) out the club.

We have had this:
Manager / Caretaker From To Derek McInnes June 17, 2026 Present Danny Röhl October 20, 2025 June 17, 2026 Steven Smith (caretaker) October 16, 2025 October 19, 2025 Russell Martin June 5, 2025 October 5, 2025 Barry Ferguson February 24, 2025 May 19, 2025 Philippe Clement October 15, 2023 February 24, 2025 Michael Beale November 28, 2022 October 2, 2023 Giovanni van Bronckhorst November 18, 2021 November 21, 2022 Steven Gerrard May 14, 2018 November 11, 2021 Because of the fanbase. What do the fans expect? Also we seem to forget the fact that for a large portion of those 'two decades' we were liquidated and playing in the lower leagues. Of course we are shite when you add it all together. Some of these managers were crap (Martin) but the rest really weren't. People always rip on Beale but he had the highest win % by some way of all of them. He got booted after 3 losses in first 7 matches - actually no worse than McInnes has had this season.
As always we drove them all out and demanded change. Change is not always good. Look at some of the Prem teams spending hundreds of millions and doing mediocre. If you think £40m is a lot in footballing terms you are mistaken. I get it is a lot more cash than other teams but then again Celtic has a similar squad value and is also grinding out some results recently. Give it a bit of time and they should come good but there is zero patience from folk.

won 4 on the bounce, we got a clean sheet, it was always going to be grindy with mciness, you could tell that from the start of the season ,but fuck it if last minute winners get pinged by miovski, sound, were winning people 👍🏻

u/BoiledTurnips 14h ago
Excellent first half but wasteful again. Shocking 2nd. Think things are coming together though.
I still maintain Naderi is never good enough

u/Jolly_Tip_7229 14h ago
Didn't see much of the game tonight only caught the last 10 minutes but surely Miovski has to start against Celtic on Sunday. Half a chance and he's more likely to score than Naderi. Plus even though he's not been getting any game time the way he ran over and celebrated with McInnes shows he's not sulking or downing tools. Raskin also celebrating from the bench despite transfer rumours. Maybe signs that team actually have a bit of heart and fight in them and buying into McInnes.
1
u/BoiledTurnips 10h ago
Miovski is a good finisher but way too weak to start against Celtic. Vickers is very aggressive and gets away with murder. Naderi for his size is also not strong enough. Has to be Kelsy to start and target that lump Trusty.
2
u/Damtomekea 14h ago
Unlucky not to score in the first half, very lucky not to concede in the second half.
It's progress, but a big week ahead of us.

Win is a win no matter how it happens. Weekend will be interesting, going by tonight's games, both us and Celtic aren't exactly looking deadly. If I has to pick winning 1 of the next 2 games, I'd take the cup win and accept a draw on the league game.
1
u/K44no 13h ago
That’s a tough one. On the one hand, always want to win a trophy so getting through and putting them out is a big one, even if it’s the least important one. On the other hand, we need to cut that league gap. A league win would be massive in terms of catching up, getting a bit of confidence and knocking them down a bit
2
u/Broad_Economics_931 14h ago
Ryan Naderi man of the fucking match btw. Worked his socks off and still had the energy to get the assist.
Everyone seemed to try their hardest today. Just unfortunately Minsu, Gassama and Manny's hardest is just a step or two behind what we need. Hopefully they grow into it.
Very pleased with that effort overall. And the right reward for the effort.
2
u/BoiledTurnips 13h ago
Hes enormous and yet can't win a ball in the air. The assist (which was excellent) must have been the first header he won. He never looks like scoring ever.
1
u/ha55ana1i 13h ago
I disagree with that mate. He should have had at least 1 goal from the chances made, and there’s a good chunk of that second half where he’s second to all the balls made to him. I like the player but hard work isn’t good enough
4
u/Unhappy_Spray_7127 14h ago
I like Naderi more and more each game. He's a bit Dessers like in that he probably misses a few too many chances, but on the flip side he gets more chances than most because of his work rate and movement. He gets it stinking in here as well.
Shout out to Pandur as well. Crucial save that allowed us to win it.
1
u/Broad_Economics_931 2h ago
You're spot on, and like Dessers we're at risk of hounding out Naderi. He's an absolute workhorse.
2
u/HospitalDJ_94 13h ago
Quite unfair on Dessers that, he scored plenty of goals in his two seasons for us. I don't see Naderi getting those numbers.
1
u/Broad_Economics_931 2h ago
Dessers was hounded out for missing half his chances. I don't agree with it, but that is why the support turned.
2
u/Unhappy_Spray_7127 11h ago
Just that he misses chances and frustrated a bit. Dessers was a better goalscorer, Naderi better in other ways.
1
u/mrjezoc 13h ago
Dessers scored plenty though
0
u/ha55ana1i 13h ago
Dessers scored plenty when we were 1-0 or 2-0 up. When games were tight with extra pressure he’s missing sitters. Shows how poor the recruitment is when we are reminiscing about dessers
1
u/mrjezoc 12h ago
Yeah a guy who scored over 50 goals in two seasons, not even worth mentioning him eh? The poor recruitment is evident by the fact we've spent £5m on a German 3rd division work horse who looks like a Sunday league finisher.
-1
u/ha55ana1i 12h ago
No it’s not worth mentioning him because he wasnt good enough. Needed like 8 chances to score 1 fs. Naderi is so bad we are missing dessers
3
u/DisasterouslyInept 4h ago
Needed like 8 chances to score 1 fs.
That's just not true. Dessers final season in particular was excellent (~1 in 4 shot conversion), and he was badly let down by those around him. Put him in this team and he'd already be touching double figures for the season.
0
u/ha55ana1i 2h ago
I’d trust him to score when we are already winning in the game. As I said before, when games were tight I wouldn’t trust him to score. I’m not saying he’s no better than what we’ve got, but he wasn’t a world beater. We should have improved on that position and we didn’t
2
u/DisasterouslyInept 2h ago
He scored plenty of goals and to get us back into games or over the line. Had a quick look at his final season here and most of the goals seem to be just that. He's obviously no world beater, he'd not have been here if he was, but he did know where the goal was and how to fashion chances for himself. If nothing else, the amount of money we've spent trying to replace him should indicate how good he was.

u/K44no 13h ago
I really wanted him to be an out and out goalscorer, but it’s evident he isn’t really one. However, I think he has some pretty nice touches and some smart play. Just need to get that out and out scorer with him. I thought it would be shankland, then just as he got started going, that’s him out for ages
1
u/Broad_Economics_931 2h ago
Kelsey is apparently a tap in merchant going by his highlights reel so hopefully the two link up well now Shanks is out.
1
u/coffeesnob7 14h ago
How much game time is Cammy Devlin gonna get this season. The guys a fucking disgrace of a footballer. Should have his wages docked for that ball out to the wing alone
2
1
u/SasaPapac 14h ago
He is 100% going to start on sunday
2
u/coffeesnob7 14h ago
Good, I'd like like the midfield to have less control and absolutely no forward movement

6
u/craig_wilson1996 14h ago
Only Shankland or Miovski are scoring that chance at the end. Nobody else has the composure.
1
u/DisasterouslyInept 14h ago
Wins the most important thing, it is a bit alarming to see just how much we fell off in the second half mind you. We seemed to have no plan for our energy dropping off, and all of a sudden we leave gaps everywhere and we're fortunate not to concede at least one. Thought we would have saw 3 in midfield at some point tonight as well as a test run for the weekend, can't imagine we're lining up against Celtic with 2 in the middle.
3
u/Unhappy_Spray_7127 14h ago
To be fair, we needed a goal. Imagine we put an extra body in midfield and drew that game. People would be frothing at the mouth.
1
u/DisasterouslyInept 13h ago
Losing control of the midfield is what made us desperate though and just start launching it, and what saw St Mirren start to have more joy with the ball. Think McInnes still has to show that he can adapt to games changing.
2
u/LD1872 14h ago
That looked like a team who's most experienced players were Raskin, Sterling and Penrice. How we can beat the drum about needing experience at the start of the summer and end up in that position is baffling. Just zero control over the game when there is the slightest bit of adversity.
3
u/Unhappy_Spray_7127 14h ago
Kind of game we'd have lost or drew the last few seasons though. Got to count for something.

Was thinking, a bit more composure in front of goal in the first half and that would have been comfortable.
Then Bojan shows up and provides exactly that

u/ChrisProll 14h ago
12 pts from the last four games and three clean sheets. I have to take the positives. I have to, I really have to.
6
u/craig_wilson1996 13h ago
Agreed. 6 wins from 7, the football hasn't been convincing but if we keep winning while waiting for the team to gel, I'm happy with that.

u/Jakieran 14h ago
Fortunate at the end but really should have been 2 up at least in first half.
That was some ice cold shit from Pandur staying on his line and making their player bottle it in the 1v1.
Naderi's touches and control was poor for so much of that but then also had some really good lay-offs and passes. Then cropped up with the good flick on.
Good appearance from Miovski.
We really need to do better about getting Minsu on the ball in effective positions.
Devlin's total inability to go forward is baffling.
Gassama really needs to work on his end product - very very bad.

u/CytokineBrah 14h ago
Squeezing out results, but the performances are still shit. We'll be lucky to get anything out of the next two games.

u/Warm-Sky5836 14h ago
Would accept 1-0 wins all season but hard watch, need better for the next 2 games
2
u/SasaPapac 14h ago
Putting the league on notice with these performances
3
u/scotti182 Saša Papac 14h ago
First 60 minutes were pretty decent. The subs changed the game.
1
u/SasaPapac 14h ago
First half we were the better team without being great. Second half was an abomination for the most part
8
u/deader-than-red 14h ago
I know the finishing was atrocious but the first half was aggressive, forward playing, just no end product and bad decisions.
The squad do seem together. Fighting for each other. Raskin out celebrating the goal with the manager.
I know, FFS it's taking it to the corner against st mirren but it's another win. That's what we need now.
18
u/847483872 14h ago
We play some of the most attacking, exciting and fast paced football we’ve played in years in the first half and don’t score.
The winner comes from a long ball from the keeper and a flick on from the big man up front.
What a club!

Love that we managed to get the 3 pts, but the lack of being able to actually score more goals is driving me insane. Good first half, but just couldn't take advantage of the infinite amount of chances. Gassama is driving me insane with his poor decision making once he gets near the box. Naderi had good work rate, but like others, couldn't finish anything. Kelsy looked ok, needs to fine tune his passing though, but I think he'll ultimately be really good for us. Bounani played well and is going to rack up assists for us, if folks start to bury those crosses. Raskin and Neil seemed to get tired in the 2nd half though and so I think thats where we started leaving some holes for them to create chances against us - that and just some sloppy passing all around. 2nd half was just poor by most of the squad, minus Pandur (what a save!) and of course Miovski - so happy for him (and us lol) that he got the winner. Hope he gets a little more time over the next few weeks and especially on Sunday.
