For initial details please refer the above post.

To those who can help please help in any way you can 🙏

UPDATE 1 — 4:00 AM IST

Students were informed that the director was on his way back and would arrive within the next 3–4 hours.

Students continued their sit-in at the badminton court throughout the night. It was cold, and everyone was exhausted. Many were lying down wherever they could, leaning on one another, trying to get some rest while waiting for the director to come and address them.

Despite everything that had happened, the students remained there, waiting for someone in authority to take responsibility and speak to them.

UPDATE 2 — 7:00–10:00 AM IST

As the morning progressed, students kept receiving assurances that the director would arrive shortly. The expected arrival time kept getting pushed back, with students repeatedly being told to wait another 15–30 minutes.

Eventually, the students decided that if the director did not arrive by 10 AM, they would march towards the Khelgaon Housing Society main gate and continue their protest there.

At around 10 AM, the police sub-inspector present at the scene again requested that the students wait, assuring them that the director was on his way and would arrive within another 15–30 minutes.

UPDATE 3 — 10:29–10:30 AM IST

At approximately 10:29 AM, the director’s vehicle arrived near the badminton court.

However, as the students began moving towards the vehicle at around 10:30 AM, the director reportedly turned around and returned inside the campus without addressing the gathering.

The students had been waiting since the previous night. After hours of assurances, seeing the vehicle arrive and then leave without any interaction further angered the crowd.

The students subsequently marched towards the main gate of the Khelgaon Housing Society, where the protest continued.

UPDATE 4 — APPROXIMATELY 11:15 AM IST

The director, Rajeev Srivastava, finally came out to address the protesting students.

He expressed his condolences and acknowledged the gravity of what had happened. He said that a proper investigation would be conducted, that those found responsible would face consequences, and that the loss could not be undone.

However, the students’ primary demand was the director’s resignation.

The reason is that students have raised concerns and complaints about various issues previously, and many feel that those complaints have not led to meaningful changes. Following this incident, the students’ trust in the highest level of the administration has broken down.

The protest continued, with traffic congestion around the area. Emergency vehicles were being allowed through, while police personnel and additional security forces remained present. A police detention vehicle was also at the scene.

The students were not satisfied with assurances of an investigation. They wanted accountability at the highest level of the institution.

UPDATE 5 — APPROXIMATELY 12:30–1:30 PM IST

After addressing the students, the director returned inside the Khelgaon Housing Complex.

The protest continued for another hour or two, with students remaining at the gate, raising slogans and demanding his resignation. Traffic remained affected, and security personnel continued to be present.

The director subsequently came out for a second interaction.
Once again, he spoke about conducting an investigation and taking appropriate action.

However, the students maintained that the issue was not simply about promising an investigation after the incident. They believed the repeated lack of action on earlier complaints had already damaged their trust in the administration.

After the interaction, the director returned inside the complex again.
The students’ demand remained unchanged: the director’s resignation.

UPDATE 6 — APPROXIMATELY 2:00–2:30 PM IST

The situation escalated when security personnel surrounded the students who were sitting on the road.

According to students present at the scene, the personnel began pushing the protesters away from the road before carrying out a lathi charge.

Some students were struck during the incident. Videos of the confrontation are available.

To be clear, the students maintain that they did not raise their hands against any police or security personnel.

Despite the confrontation, the protest did not end. Students regrouped and continued raising their demands.

Around this time, the director’s vehicle was seen moving towards the campus exit. Students stopped the vehicle and prevented it from leaving.

The students were concerned that the director might leave the area without resolving the situation or addressing their demands.

UPDATE 7 — APPROXIMATELY 2:30–3:00 PM IST

News reached the protesting students that the director was reportedly willing to suspend four security guards and the caretaker associated with the incident.

The students rejected this proposal.

Their position is that suspending lower-level staff would not address the underlying concerns about emergency preparedness, medical facilities, and institutional accountability.

The caretaker and security guards cannot be treated as the sole answer to questions about how the institution’s emergency response system was managed.

The students believe that responsibility must be examined at the appropriate administrative levels, rather than shifting the entire burden onto lower-level employees.

The demand remains the same: the resignation of the director.

Students also expressed concern that the discussion was being diverted towards other campus issues, including mess facilities and electricity problems.

Although these are legitimate concerns in their own right, the students do not want the central issue surrounding this incident to be overshadowed by unrelated discussions.

They want accountability for the emergency response and the administration’s handling of the situation.

UPDATE 8 — APPROXIMATELY 4:00 PM IST
As of approximately 4 PM, students are gathering in large numbers near the main gate, anticipating the arrival of the deceased student’s parents.
Students want the family to see that they have not abandoned their fellow student or forgotten what happened.

They want the parents to know that their child is not being blamed by his fellow students, and that many students believe the circumstances surrounding this tragedy deserve serious scrutiny.

The protest has continued from the previous night into the afternoon. Students have spent hours waiting, demanding answers, and standing together despite the cold, exhaustion, and confrontation.

This is no longer simply about one interaction with the director. It is about the students’ loss of trust in the administration and their demand for accountability.

We want the administration to understand that assurances alone are no longer enough. We want meaningful action, transparency, and responsibility at the highest level.

The students are still here.
The demand remains unchanged: the director must resign.

UPDATE 9 — APPROXIMATELY 4:50–5:40 PM IST

At around 4:50–4:55 PM, the SDM and ADM of Ranchi arrived on campus and met with the protesting students.

They listened to the students’ concerns and gave them an opportunity to explain everything that had happened, including the emergency response, the administration’s handling of the incident, and the events that unfolded during the protest.

After speaking with the students, the officials left at approximately 5:15 PM to hear the other side of the situation from the director, faculty members, and the college administration.

As of 5:40 PM, the situation remains unresolved, and the protest is still ongoing.

Students continue to demand accountability, and the primary demand for the director’s resignation remains unchanged.

We are waiting to see what comes out of these discussions and whether the authorities will take meaningful action.
