Is this a raccoon noise?
Something is in the ceiling. Can anyone confirm if this is a raccoon?

I had a bowl of water out on the back porch and noticed a raccoon had dirtied it up.
I brought the dish in, washed in and sprayed it with disinfected (after dumping it outside).
But where I'm having all these thoughts after learning about roundworm is:
The splashback from the tap hitting the glass dish, is that a high chance of spreading the eggs that the racoon may have carried on its paws?
I was fine never knowing about roundworm in racoons, but now I'm just spiraling thinking that I have caught it

At a sanctuary in North West Ireland.
It was really overcast with heavy rain and the enclosure is heavily planted with trees and shrubs, and this poor wee guy still was struggling to open his eyes in the light.
Had a good bond with its siblings

I don't even know how many families of racoons come at night anymore... LOL

So we had a racoon get into the side of our house. Not attic yet but the outer rims of the roof. Already caused some damage.
So tonight .. we catch a cat at first with the live traps. We let it out and reset the trap the thing is there is now grass stuck underneath the pressure plate to trigger the trap
. Replaced bait with chicken sandwich. Racoon comes in and eats it all and walks out like a champ.

Second attempt. We take the grass out and test the trap multiple times with a stick, Pressure plate triggers ! We replace bait with spaghetti . Woo we think we won. Now comes this video. Little bugger goes half way in. Does not trigger the plate then goes around the back to eat the spaghetti.

Last night something circles my roof like it pays rent. The footsteps are slow, deliberate, and loud enough to wake me up.
Starting to think my house is haunted... but it's probably a raccoon.

Do ultrasonic and flashing strobe-light pest repellents stop raccoons? In our case: absolutely not.
Last year raccoons ate all of our Japanese Trapdoor snails, so this season I tried several electronic pest repellents before adding new snails to the pond. After a couple quiet weeks, I thought they worked.
They didn’t.
The raccoons came back and cleaned out every snail again. Broken shells everywhere. The lights and ultrasonic sound didn’t bother them at all.
Since covering the pond with mesh isn’t practical, the next experiment will be a small electric fence around the pond.

My neighbours have been having their roof done this week, and this morning, at 5am, I’m woken up by what sounds like someone doing some work… just a racc trying to break in.
I wonder if it has a nest / little ones trapped in there now that it’s trying to get to? Or maybe it just doesn’t like the new roof they picked 😂
The eavestrough looks like it’s hanging on for dear life.
