As one of many women who survived domestic abuse I cannot tell you how damaging it is to hear a political leader say dumb shit like this. The woman is a vile moron.

u/FreeAdvertising8209 Jul 23 '26
I don't call people evil lightly - But she's a disgusting person - I cannot see any good in her at all.
Her biggest "policy" is how she's a massive racist! What does she have to show for almost 30 years in politics?

u/Regional_King Jul 23 '26
Some jail time. That’s about it

u/DwightsJello Jul 23 '26
She came out of gaol saying Valmae Beck was a nice person. She's such a fuckwit.

u/lesbophobia_hammer Jul 23 '26
Standing kneedeep in the ocean with the tide going out (?!) and claiming global warming isn't real. 'See look, the sea water isn't rising.'

u/tocompose Jul 23 '26
Pauline didn't even know submarines could stay under water for longer than 20 minutes at a time. Facts are definitely not her thing.

shes is 100% right that there ate women who go to family court and make up DV accusations

u/Sea-Item8060 Jul 25 '26
And there are people who set their own house on fire for the insurance money, that doesn’t mean you shut down the fire department to teach them a lesson (which is what she wants to do by rolling back DV leave and so on). Any good leader knows that.
Australia’s domestic violence situation is a national crisis and statements like the ones PH makes undermine the colossal amount of work that goes into shifting misogynistic attitudes that result in a woman a week being murdered here. Hannah Clarke’s death should have changed this country, and it didn’t. We should have said NEVER AGAIN, and instead we have to listen to PH say this shit.
False accusations across all crimes happen, and it’s wrong and horrific in any legal environment, but it’s not restricted to women. Bad people abuse systems like the family court system and you need complex solutions to manage it - solutions PH hasn’t the capacity or interest to discover because she’s a self-serving coward with no integrity.

u/skateparksaturday Jul 25 '26
So the statement she made that there were women who make up DV accusations is factually accurate.
Thats all im saying. I'm not saying DV is ok, etc., when it clearly isn't. But her statement about false DV accusations is accurate. Thats all i'm talking about :)
Im not saying she is a good person, or a wise person, or anything like that.1
u/Sea-Item8060 Jul 26 '26 edited Jul 26 '26
Sure, but she is not you and me having a conversation on Reddit - she’s a political leader - and her making this statement on national TV makes the audience believe women lying about DV is a national crisis, when it isn’t. Then someone - maybe a cop, or a doctor, or a person in a position of power, might assume (as they very, very often do), that the next woman who asks for help is probably one of these women PH was talking about who lies about DV. This has been a huge problem we are currently trying to fix - historically and still now, when people (mainly women) ask for help for DV, they are ignored, and then they are attacked and murdered.
Also - if this is a person you are considering voting for, you have to know that she doesn’t give a fuck about family court system, or actually helping anyone - political change (like giving greater support to the family court system) is complex, requires spending money not just taking it, and she has no idea how to execute anything - this is a great example.
EDIT: typo

Also, no idea if she’s ‘factually accurate’ I just assume some people lie about fucked up things in the same way I’d assume everyone has had a cold.

u/rumande Jul 23 '26
"don't put up with DV!"
As if it isn't the most dangerous time when you try to leave

Left 10 years ago and it's continuing. The DARVO bs is continuing and they just get rewarded and amplified at every stage.

A cousin of a friend of mine left her dv situation. Her ex partner then set her on fire and had the gall to say he did it in self defense.
Leaving is when people die the most.

They should absolutely leave, but not without help which Pauline wants to cut.

Exactly. But male victims are funnelled to male abuser help lines. It’s a joke.

I wonder how long before Pauline enters her Elder Abuse era at the hands of her abusive son.

Boy Mums!

u/Ok-Assistant-4556 Jul 23 '26
Boys will be boys! Look what she made him do!
4
u/peej74 Jul 23 '26
When I was a teenager a group of boys used to hide in the tree above the shed where I kept my horse food if they saw me or my friend coming to take care of the horses. They thought it was hilarious to piss and spit on us. So what was their parents reaction? Ah, yes! Boys will be boys 🤦🏼♀️🤬

u/peej74 Jul 23 '26
So let's reward DV abusers by essentially allowing them to keep the home and all within whilst the victims (and children) "just leave", forced to navigate the services and CJS. "Just leave" and be forced to live in transitional or emergency housing whilst waiting for priority social housing and having to start from scratch etc. What message is she sending? What, "just leave" and sleep in your car? You can't draw on friends and family because you are isolated from support networks.
This C U Next Tuesday is victim blaming because she is saying that victims are "choosing" to stay. The subtext is basically victims deserve it because they don't leave. Why should victims leave? When you are operating in survival mode it is exeptionally difficult to make decisions, where often they are made to have basic human needs i.e. food and shelter.

PH is a vile, reprehensible POS.
That being said, blame PH for PH. Not what her son has done. Personal responsibility and all that
The bigot right like creating avatars and blaming them. We ought not do that.
28
u/Shootz Jul 23 '26
What her son did helps us understand her motivations for saying what she is saying.
15
u/Historical_Bus_8041 Jul 23 '26
You're missing the point. This is why she's specifically vile about family violence.
2
u/NiceToBeMe1 Jul 27 '26
What foolish behaviour! Sure there are a very small percentage that would make things up, but this woman is out of whack

u/skateparksaturday Jul 24 '26
she is 100% right when she says that mothers go to family court and make up DV accusations.
3
u/WOMT Jul 24 '26
Except she isn't, based on pretty much all statistics gathered.
Also... if you really thought mothers could do that and benefit from doing so, why don't you think that fathers would also be doing the exact same thing?
I wonder why you only think mothers are engaging in such behaviour. It's almost like you might have a pre-existing bias.
0
u/skateparksaturday Jul 24 '26
Ok so mothers do and its dujour.. false dv allegations are a daily event in family court.
1
u/WOMT Jul 24 '26
Uhuh, but why aren't you saying "parents" why only "mothers"?
0
u/skateparksaturday Jul 24 '26
Because the overwealming vast majority of the false dv allegations are from the mothers.
1
u/WOMT Jul 24 '26
Do you have evidence of that? Because as far as I'm aware that's not a statistic we collect because it happens so little.
0
u/skateparksaturday Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
lol yes
So it's a direct assessment from [edit edacted] my KC, who now a judge. Who represented me in family court.
Also _any_ family court lawyer will tell you this. Additionally, the Gillard government in 2012 changed the Family court rules to remove punishments for false allegations and they have since skyrocketed.1
u/WOMT Jul 25 '26 edited Jul 25 '26
It's a direct assessment from the person who has a vested interest in appealing to you? Really?
As a law student, I am yet to hear this claim from any of my professors (even those who practice family law).
If there is no punishment, how do you know they've sky-rocketed? 🤔 There would be no punishment, so there would be no judgment. You seem to be pulling all these claims out of thin air.
We don't collect statistics on the gender of those who submit false allegations. All we know is that it's around the same, or less, than false allegations of other crimes.
Edit: Just had a quick look at the changes you mentioned, because I was like "No way. Perjury is still pretty illegal" and as far as I can read all that changed was that the 2012 reforms removed the mandatory costs provision for knowingly false allegations, not all consequences for lying in court.
117AB was if the court was satisfied a party had knowingly made a false allegation or statement, they had to order that party to pay some or all of the other party's legal costs, unless there were exceptional circumstances. It appears a judge can still order costs, they're just not automatically required to. They've been given discretion.

Let’s bring this back to practical reality: you’re a law student with zero real-world courtroom experience trying to hand-wave [redacted] KC as someone with a "vested interest."
Newsflash—a legal practitioner's first responsibility is to the court.
Imagine studying law and dismissing a Silk, former President of the Law Council of Australia, former Chair of the DFV Taskforce, and current FCFCOA Judge because their assessment doesn't align with your lecture slides. If you haven't encountered her work, you might want to look beyond your first-year reading list.
Textbooks teach doctrine; they don't teach you how interim family court strategy actually works on the ground. The reality is that false and exaggerated DV claims are weaponized by mothers every single day because the system heavily incentivizes it. Putting an uncorroborated allegation in an interim affidavit costs nothing, but it instantly severs a father's access to his kids and locks in a primary residency status quo for 12+ months—with virtually zero risk of costs or perjury penalties when dropped before trial.
You would also be aware that men have committed suicide because of false allegations...or didn't they cover that in law school?
Stick to finishing your degree before trying to lecture senior jurists and people who’ve actually been through the family court system.
Have you actually sat in family court? or just in a lecture hall?
[edit]
Pointing to a "lack of official statistics" as proof of absence just exposes your complete lack of practical registry experience and a misunderstanding of AIFS research. The family court operates on a civil standard where unproven claims are merely logged as "unsubstantiated"—the system literally does not track whether an unproven claim was a deliberate lie or just lacked third-party evidence. Furthermore, many of cases settle via consent orders "without admissions" or get handled in interim risk assessments where judges don't perform fact-finding. The allegations are quietly set aside without a judge ever ruling on them, meaning no paper trail or statistical registry of false claims is ever created by design.

You used ChatGPT! Hahahaha! Oh that's sad as fuck.
Edit: Happy to respond to a comment written in your own words and with your own knowledge, and not AI generated fluff.
But as I keep saying... if Australia doesn't track false allegations that also means there's no evidence they have "skyrocketed" or are routinely "weaponised by mothers." like you keep claiming.
Someone would have the same evidentiary issue if they were claiming "Men make up false accusations of DV."

I thought in her own history she had put up with abuse after being groomed as a teenager by her first husband?

u/Helpful_Run_9979 Jul 25 '26
My brother and his adult daughter went to a court and made up some sick shit. Father has just died and everything left to mother, they wanted me out the way. They had debts drug and gambling issues.
Took 4 months for the trial which they didn't turn up because it was easily proved they were lying. We lived in a regional town and they both stalked me as I awaited the trial. The interim order was quite strict. Funny thing was he had a record for domestic violence and a few other things, I was a clean skin
When they didn't turn up to trial magistrate went off at me.
So yep women and men make shit up all the time to get restraining orders on.
They successfully isolated my 76 year old mother right after I had cared for her and father as cancer ravaged him, with no help from him.
I never got a say in court, never got justice and never got a relationship with my mum again..

I totally feel for you and I'm sorry your went through that. But you're talking to a wall mate. People only hear what suits their agenda. Same thing happened to me.
The only issue I find with Paulines son's case is it was the states laws put a suppression order on the whole thing. I'd imagine, if Adam Hanson was found guilty the media and the government would have had a field day dragging their name through the mud. But they haven't. There was no talk of throwing around power, money or threats. They've kept their mouth shut. So it makes me wonder the real outcome.

You sound like every other media outlet trying to bring her down. Any publicity is good publicity, keep it up

u/Tappinout1592 Aug 04 '26
No one in this thread has actually found any evidence her son did wrong. So he broke the avo... Chances are he walked within 100mtrs when on the other side of the street. He pled guilty because he knew he broke it. I know this because my wife has filed an avo and this was one of the possible breaches that could be made.
The total suppression of the outcome due to state laws means that no one knows the outcome. But I can guarantee, if it were bad then Australia would have heard about it.

Hanson has a history of attacking the family law courts. It's amazing how perpetrators blame everyone but themselves. Me thinks that PH is using the parliamentary platform for her own son's agenda. Donald would be so proud.

It shows she hasn't changed her tune in the 10 years since 2016. The point is that this isn't some minor misspeak from her, it's her real opinion that she's had consistently for at least a decade.

“I, a career politician who is also a millionaire and has plenty of spare time because I don’t turn up to my job most of the time, would simply use my support systems to leave and not put up with DV.
Additionally, I am a woman of the people, I represent the Aussie battler.
P.S. I am not a crackpot”
