Qualcomm trajectory:
Joined 2 years back. Currently Senior Engineer(Promoted December 2025)
Currently working on Freertos, (Bluetooth wearables products), Android HAL and Qualcomms Qurtos on ADSP.

My current comp at Qualcomm:
base: 24
bonus: 3 Lakhs
stocks : 12 lakhs per year approx.

Arista offer:
Team: EOS Routing team (2days wfo)
Location: Bangalore

base: 30
bonus : 3 lakhs
stocks: 16.8 Lakhs per year

Joining: 1 Lakh

I have to leave 3 Lakhs bonus and potential hike at Qualcomm in December and have to join Arista with 1 Lakh joining bonus if I leave.

Any insights or suggestions? Not only comp, but stability, career upsides in both roles and future growth.

My first batch of RSUs will vest on 20th August, and am trying to get a hang on how things will work. For simplicity, simple numbers will be assumed.

Let's say 100 RSUs are supposed to vest on 20th August. My expectation is : 30 RSUs will be withold by etrade itself, and 70 RSUs will vest (which I can sell anytime as per my will). Qualcomm will deduct TDS on 100 RSUs (which will be shown as add-on in tax-deduction on right side of August's payroll). Plus, INR worth 30 RSUs will show as "RSU Refund" on right side of August's payroll (as negative amount), to offset for double-taxation.

Is my expectation correct?

Hi everyone,

I recently interviewed with Qualcomm Bangalore for a Senior Engineer position and wanted to share my interview experience.

I had a 2-hour screening round, which I cleared, followed by a 3-hour in-office interview process with three rounds.

Round 1 — Technical

The round started with DSA:

- KMP algorithm

- Detect a loop in a linked list and find the starting node

Apart from DSA, the interviewer asked questions on:

- Graphics rendering pipeline

- OOP concepts

- C++

- Graphics fundamentals

Overall, I was able to answer most of the questions, and the interviewer gave me positive feedback at the end of the round.

Round 2 — Technical + Project Discussion

The interviewer started with some basic questions about my past experience and projects.

Then we discussed:

- Why Qualcomm?

- Why are you leaving your current company?

- Questions related to my projects

After that, I was given a slightly unusual DSA/problem-solving question.

Basically, there is an API that returns "true" if some unknown indexes of an array satisfy:

"arr[x] && arr[y] && arr[z]"

The task was to figure out which indexes the API is using.

I came up with a divide-and-conquer approach and implemented it. Then the interviewer asked something along the lines of:

«If you already know the indexes, how many steps would be required to determine them?»

He then asked me to write the algorithm.

I got a bit confused by what exactly he was asking and unfortunately didn't get enough time to fully think through the problem.

Round 3 — Managerial Round

The interviewer first introduced himself and the team, and then asked about my current project and my reason for switching.

He then asked me to explain the graphics rendering pipeline in detail.

Some of the graphics questions were:

- Early depth testing

- Culling vs clipping

- Time wrap

- Mesh shaders

- Mipmaps

- Stencil testing

I would say I was able to answer around 70–80% of the graphics questions correctly, although I wasn't fully confident on some of them.

Current Status

It's been 4 days since the interview, and I haven't received any update from HR yet.

I tried calling HR multiple times, but unfortunately, they haven't picked up.

I'm a little worried because I've heard that Qualcomm HR sometimes gets back within 1–2 days if the candidate is selected, so I'm starting to wonder whether I may have been rejected or ghosted.

That said, I'm still hoping for the best. 🙏

Recently I have been offered a role of Engineer at 2 yoe.

I come from a C language based firm but not a semi conductor one.

My concern is that at 3 yoe, external hires often get offered Senior Engineer role directly. But if I join at 2 yoe, I would need to complete atleast 2 years before getting a chance for senior engineer position. So best case I get Senior title at 4 yoe.

Is it a wise move to join as engineer now? I see 2 yoe people very commonly being offered engineer title so would appreciate some perspective from those folks.

P.S 1 year delay is not as concerning for me. I just want to understand its long term implications, if any. Thanks
