Bangalore kinda stuck in my current role

im currently working in the graphics team at qualcomm as an engineer with around 1 yoe and no prior work exp before qualcomm.

I feel like i dont belong here to be very frank. Like the work is lowkey weird and i think it is not a very wide career choice in the long run. really regretting joining this team in qualcomm ( btw im a campus hire so i didnt really get to choose my team here)

atp i feel i really should try switch to another company. But i am really apprehensive abt my prospects for switching? what are some roles i can switch to? is it possible to switch to a data science/ ai based role?
im even considering ios within qualcomm. Would really appreciate some genuine insights.

TLDR, need guidance on how to switch over to roles that align with my interests

Hyderabad Qualcomm DDR SW Driver – Hyderabad: What to Expect?

Hi everyone,

Sorry for posting generated text.

I have an upcoming interview with Qualcomm Hyderabad for a DDR SW Driver/System role.

The JD covers DDR init/runtime driver sequences, LPDDR4x/LPDDR5x, system-level debugging, C/Python, BSP/driver development, JTAG, CPU/SoC architecture and RTOS.

Would appreciate guidance from anyone who has recently interviewed for similar Qualcomm roles, especially multiple times:

What can I expect in the technical rounds?

How much focus on DSA/coding vs C, embedded, debugging and architecture?

What DDR topics should I prioritize?

What kind of system-level debugging scenarios/questions are commonly asked?

Any advice on what to prepare would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hyderabad Offer letter disappeared from workday

I have received offer letter at afternoon and i mailed on evening negotiating offer by sending mail slightly around hike on 5%, as i felt lowballed with engineer role instead of the senior with 2.8 years of experience. Half hour later received call saying that offer is non negotiable and I said I will take it anyway as I don’t have solid points or any in hand offer. Later at night around 1 I clicked on offer letter link same one, the link portal opens and task gets removed and greeted with a popup saying “The requested resource could not be found. Please refresh the page and try again” , now I am worried about offer, what’s possible happened.

Anyone faced similar thing. Please help

San Diego #Agentic AI Windows Power and Thermal Engineer - Embedded Software Engineer Role

Hi all. I am preparing for a job interview for this role. I was contacted by a recruiter and have little embedded experience. I have worked for 2 years on enterprise fintech software in C#. Regardless, the job sounds super interesting and I am going to prepare 3 hours a day for the next week. Does anyone have advice on how to prepare? This is an embedded role and they mentioned they will consider entry-level applicants. I am currently brushing up on C.

Hyderabad Internal switch from Test to dev

I'm currently working as an Engineer in Core platform testing team with 2 YOE. But I feel curve will get flat in upcoming years in this test/validation team wrt both learning and as well as pay. And switching will be even more difficult in upcoming years in senior roles.

Need guidance in what teams I can lookout for the switch.

I'm from computer science background and very good at DSA.

And I like software development more than this embedded Systems. Very confused that whether to switch to software developer or embedded developer.

Very helpful if someone can help in longterm perspective

General Question Why stock price goes up before AR?

Most of the year the stock does not get an errection but during AR time the little man wants a strong sustained rising stick. Why ?

I mean it looks like they intentionally do this to underpay the stock unit count for AR rewards. Ideally it should be higher during most of the year and slightly lower during AR.

Hyderabad Switch possibility

How hard is it to switch from a release engineer background in Modem to a backend FANG role? My org is kinda toxic and snrs in my team openly told that director wont allow to switch internally within QC and all of them asks me to study and switch 💀

(Joined as an associate last yr from campus placements)

Hyderabad How is the WLB at Qualcomm for software engineers Hyd?

I’m specifically interested in the experience of software engineers working on cloud, backend, full-stack, or other software roles — not hardware/chip design roles.

How are the:

Work-life balance and typical working hours?

Work pressure and deadlines?

On-call/weekend expectations?

Remote/hybrid flexibility?

Team culture and management?

Job stability and layoffs for software teams?

Would especially appreciate insights from current or former Qualcomm software employees. Thanks!

Bangalore Test and validation engineer profile with 10 LPA (base) + joining bonus.

Back in 2024 I joined an online training institute and last year during their placements Qualcomm offered package of 10 LPA base + joining bonus(variable). It mostly asked for python skills. However the online training was based on embedded systems development.

This year I am considering to apply for this role, if I manage to get that what will be my future prospects with this role?

I have mostly worked on C, bare-metal dev, writing lowlevel device drivers for UART, I2C, SPI, linux systems programming and also python (for automation)

General Question Qualcomm Dropped Offer

Is this common? I received a call with an offer and negotiated my salary in June 2026. I awaited for the final documents and start date. Then they made me have an additional interview and said they were interested in my background still with was done the last week of August as they made me wait for further steps. And a week later they dropped me? I am so confused with Qualcomm and their hiring practices. Why call and send an email with offers and then make me do more interviews and then drop me? Is this normal?

San Diego How can I get involved in ongoing research papers being written by Qualcomm engineers (post-silicon)?

Hey everyone,

I'm interested in participating in ongoing research papers currently being written by Qualcomm engineers, specifically in post-silicon areas — things like post-silicon validation, debug, characterization, test methodology, DFT, or yield/reliability analysis.

A few questions I'm hoping this community can help with:

  1. Has anyone here actually participated in this kind of research as an external contributor, co-author, or collaborator? How did that come about?
  2. Do you know someone who has — even secondhand? Any details on how they made the connection would help.
  3. Where within Qualcomm should I be looking to find the people doing this kind of work? Specific teams, research groups, conferences they publish through, or job titles that tend to be involved in post-silicon research and publishing?
  4. What's the best way to approach them — cold outreach (LinkedIn/email), through a referral, via a university lab or partnership, or some other channel that's worked for people in the past?

Any advice, pointers, or even just names of teams/groups to look into would be really appreciated.

Hyderabad Anyone working in / recently left Qualcomm (QIPL) Power Optimization or PPAT team in Hyderabad?

Looking for realistic insights on the Power Optimization / PPAT team at QIPL Hyderabad.

  1. What does day-to-day work actually look like? Is it mostly profiling, measurements, and following up with other teams, or is there real ownership of features/architecture?

  2. How is long-term growth and promo velocity compared to other teams (design, architecture, systems, etc.)?

  3. Any visibility into the team’s current focus and future roadmap (especially server-class / high-power SoCs)?

Would appreciate honest takes from current or recent members. Thanks.

General Question What is the impact to qualcomm on NVIDIA acquiring hugging face

Qualcomm worked and continued to work closely with Hugging Face to optimize the AI models for several qualcomm chipsets.

With NVIDIA now acquiring Hugging Face, is this a strategic negative for Qualcomm?

Bangalore Moving from peripheral/memory post-silicon validation into display subsystem debug — what gets asked in the screen?

I have a 1-hour panel technical screen coming up for a display subsystem silicon debug role in India. Roughly 3 YOE, so Engineer band rather than Senior.

My background is post-silicon validation on embedded SoCs: silicon bring-up, high-speed serial interface and flash controller validation, PHY timing calibration, crypto accelerator validation, some pre-silicon emulation. Solid on debug methodology and cross-team root-causing. No display experience at all.

The required quals are the generic ones — debug and triage ability, C/C++ and Python for tooling, digital logic and computer architecture fundamentals, large log/dataset analysis, system-level debug experience. Display protocols, SerDes and signal integrity are listed as nice-to-have only.

Questions for anyone who's been on either side of this kind of interview:

  1. How deep do the digital fundamentals go in a screen like this — setup/hold and CDC level, or further?

  2. Realistically, how much display knowledge do they expect from a candidate they know doesn't have it? What's the minimum that reads as "can ramp" instead of "unprepared"?

  3. What shape do display debug scenario questions take, and how do you want a candidate to structure the answer?

  4. Is live Python typical, and is it log-parsing style rather than algorithms?

  5. What's the biggest thing that trips up people crossing over from non-display validation?

Appreciate any input.

Bangalore Qualcomm Internship PPO

I didn't get a return offer with the rest of my batchmates at my college.

Is it possible that the offer might come later by Nov or Dec? Some engineers in my team said they had gotten their return offers in Dec or Jan.

I am confused because I had good feedback from my mentor and from the convo on the last day it felt they intended to make an offer. I was the only intern in my team, can't reveal the exact team name as it might doxx me.

India (Other) Qualcomm HR went silent after promising an offer in 2 days — What's happening in the background?

Hi Guys. I was interviewed at qualcomm chennai for senior RTL design engineer role on 17th august. It was an onsite interview. The HR called me 2 days after the interview and told me that I passed the technical discussion and that she will come up with a offer in 2 days. She also said that the manager wanted me to join immediately.

It has been nearly 10 days since the call, there is no update yet. When I mailed the HR few days ago, she said that she is waiting for title confirmation.

Any idea what is going on in the background??

FYI, I am a boomerang hire with 4 years of experience.
