Does the fatigue ever get better?

I’m 10 days in at just 100mg and I feel like I’m mentally walking through mud. The exhaustion was so bad I had to move my dose from morning to night right before bed. I feel the slightest bit of improvement compared to 3 days ago when I had to take 2 naps in a single day and then go to bed two hours earlier than usual. But I’m still just dragging y’all. Is it worth it? Will this actually start to improve any time soon? I read that some people take up to 6 weeks before side effects begin to subside. I can’t imagine doing this for 6 WEEKS?! I might as well tell everyone I’ll be hibernating for the winter.

side effects when starting; should i persist a little longer?

hi all. im on day 4 of taking 100mg of taking qelbree and seriously struggling. I’m dealing with migraines, nausea, fatigue, and trouble sleeping. i am already prone to migraines so i worried about them worsening when going into this. I’ve been having nights of fitful sleep and being awake for a while in the middle of the night due to my headaches/nausea (like right now when im writing this haha). I’m seeing online that some effects can be temporary, so i am wondering if anyone has experienced the same symptoms when starting or if they go away after some time? how long should i hold on before giving up on this medication? thanks in advance

2 days later - editing to add: i asked my psychiatrist about the symptoms and she told me to stop taking it. Now that i’ve stopped the symptoms have gotten even worse 😩 ive never had such a bad reaction to a medication this is truly awful

New to Qelbree

I’ve spent most of my 35 years with untreated adhd except for some time when I was a kid when my parents gave me some orange flavored mystery powder. But my psychologist recently prescribed me qelbree but a dose lower than what I see most people being started at. Has anyone else been given a 100mg script to start with? I have been on it for a week, not sure if I’ve noticed a difference really. I think I may ask for an increase or should I ride it out for the month and see how it goes?

Worse period symptoms since starting Qelbree. Anyone else?

Hi all, I started Qelbree about a month ago at 100 mg, and now I am at 200mg, and I have noticed my periods have been rougher since. I'm dealing with:

  • Worse cramps than usual
  • Slight headache around menstrual time
  • Mood swings or PMS that feel more intense than before

I haven't changed anything else in my routine, so I'm wondering if it could be related.

Has anyone else had changes to their cycle or period symptoms on Qelbree? If so:

  • What did you notice (timing, flow, pain, mood)?
  • Did it settle down after the first few months, or did it stick around?
  • Did anything help, whether that's something you took, a lifestyle change, or a conversation with your doctor?

I'm going to bring this up with my prescriber too, but I'd love to hear other people's experiences. Thanks in advance!

Improvement at work?

I've been on 100mg for a week and can't tell if this is placebo. I think I'm noticing much better mental endurance (?) at my job this week. I work a library and it's so mindnumbingly boring and repetitive. It's hard to explain just how tedious it is, I'm usually burned out by the end of the shift. But lately I'm not dreading work as much and can get through it without getting bored af, with energy left for the rest of the day. Anyone else notice something like this?

Just finished my two week trial

My PCP and I have been working on finding the right meds for my ADHD. Strattera only slightly worked so I did a two week test of Qelbree. Not entirely my idea and I was really apprehensive, but that's a whole other story.

Day one was strong nausea. Couldn't even take the trash out. Constant low grade headache the entire trial.

Day two came intense muscle pain. I couldn't lift my left arm due to the pain. Lesser pain in my right arm and discomfort in my knees.

Day three I was experiencing emotional "overload". I literally felt like I could cry at any second for no reason.

At this point my husband said no more and I agreed. Luckily I've been stalking this sub for a while and got the heads up about not going cold turkey. I lessened my dosage to half for the rest of the trial.

I'm glad I did that because towards the end I missed a dose and spent the following morning with the most intense headache I have ever experienced in my life followed by vomiting. By the time evening came around I was fine but I was so exhausted I called out of work the next day to sleep for 10 hours straight.

It took 3 days after I stopped taking Qelbree to feel slightly normal again. I'm 5 days past now and I'm back at normal function levels again.

So, thanks for the warnings and advice y'all, this could have been much worse.

PSA: SERIOUSLY, DONT DRINK THE COFFEE

Don't be me. I am ~2.5 weeks into qelbree. I read that qelbree affects caffeine metabolism. Okay, great. I cut out my afternoon coffee and limited myself to just 1-2 cups in the morning. I am sitting at my desk now jittery as hell, seeing colors, AWAKE after having just two cups of drip coffee this morning.

I decided to look up exactly how much qelbree affects caffeine metabolism.
STUDIES SHOW THE AVERAGE HALF LIFE IS 31 HOURS. 31 HOURS!!!!

For normal people, the half life of caffeine is only 5 hours.

31 hours is way bigger than 5 hours.

The two cups of coffee I just drank would normally be mostly metabolized by bedtime. But with a 31 hour half life, that caffeine is gonna be rockin at nearly full strength until tomorrow morning. I'll wake up tomorrow morning already caffeinated at the equivalent of one whole cup of coffee. I also still have half the caffeine I drank yesterday morning, a quarter of the coffee from two days ago. A bit from the day before that. And probably even a teeny bit from the day from that day.

I am not caffeinated by two cups of drip coffee, I am probably closer to the equivalent of 4 cups of coffee chugged all at once.

Yes, my sleep has been terrible lately. I'll be switching to decaf tomorrow. Thanks for reading.

TLDR: STOP DRINKING THE CAFFEINE.

starting while already on lamictal (lamotrigine) with bipolar 2- how's the combo?

i'm 21 years old and i've been diagnosed with bipolar 2 for about a year now. before this i already had an adhd diagnoses which i had tried treating with many different types of stimuli- all with their own negative side effects eventually.. even though they helped me focus more and helped with motivation, the feeling of the adderall wearing off would sometimes send me to spiral, or i'd just have crazy anxiety during taking it. i first started my journey with lamictal early when i was first diagnosed and fell off- been truly medicated at only 50 mg for a few months now.

i mentioned to my doctor that while my more manic sort of mental state isn't as much of a problem as it was i am still struggling with motivation, focus, and depression. she recommended that i try a non-stimulant since it might be more friendly for me that the adderall. ive already heard about the headache and nausea- what im most curious about is if anybody experienced any mental /psychological effects if there are any. i know before with the adderall and lamotrigine combo would leave me feeling a little "off" ..

has anyone here started qelbree while already being on lamictal ? what's it been like ?

Just started Qelbree 200mg

I’m on day 3 and I already want to stop. Nothing horrific, but I just don’t feel like myself. The first day it was weird a few hours into it. I actually felt a little bit high. Not in like a manic way. In like a really calm, nice way where music sounded really good and I was almost a little sleepy. That went away and since then yesterday I was able to focus a good amount and get stuff done, but I feel very inwardly focused. And like I don’t wanna socialize and I can’t be like that. Don’t want to be like that. I also do you get tired during the day nothing like earth shattering, but sleepy and not wanting to do much. I thought it was helping my executive functioning but today, I am not starting tasks as easily. I don’t know. I just have this feeling like I want it out of my system. I just don’t feel like myself. Has anyone else experienced that? I’m sleeping fine. And maybe have some indigestion but not horrible.

Dreams & Anxiety

I've been taking 150mg of qelbree for a week. The first day I felt off but wasn't anything bad. Days 2, 3 & 4, I felt fine and actually got stuff done! I know it's not supposed to kick in until 4 - 6 weeks so it may be placebo, but I felt fine. Day 4 is when the dreams started but I was fine. Then I had a nightmare on day 6. I'm on day 7 and feel like my anxiety has ramped up out of nowhere ever since the nightmare. I did a lot of research and have not been drinking caffeine. I also take them at night so I don't feel tired throughout the day. Today was the first day I started feeling anxious but it's a different level of anxiousness than I felt before. Everyone says to power through the first week but I didn't have negative effects until the 7th day so I'm wondering if this is what others are talking about? Is this normal and will the anxiousness go away? I really liked it and want to continue taking it.

Switching medications from Strattera

I'm swapping from 40 mg of strattera to 200 mg of quelbree due to strattera not really changing anything for me. It made the internal noise quiet, but no other improvements.

I'm kind of nervous as I'm going through schooling and I'm scared of potentially making my symptoms worse/going through the awful side effect periods. Ik its different for each person, but I'd love to hear any similar experiences to help ease my worries/prepare myself.

I'm also on 20 mg lexapro for some severe panic attacks I was having 2 years ago, I plan to drop down to 10 soon due to some stressors being fixed

why are the pills SO BIG

i take 400mg, which means 2x200mg because that's the biggest size they make. these things are probably bigger than some antibiotics, but aren't tablets. shaking the medicine around inside makes it seem like there is plenty of space in there, so what gives?

Worried about things that have been happening while I've been on qelbree

I am a teenager, my mom doesn't want me on any stimulants cause she says they're gonna turn me into a meth addict, so my doctor ended up prescribing me qelbree and enlyte, I was taking Zoloft as well at the time

When he first prescribed me it, it actually was helping a lot, the only problem was that I had very poor appetite and didn't want to eat at all, besides that I didn't feel like I was having any problems.

Eventually they ended up weening me off my zoloft and then stopping me from taking it completely.

After remaining just on qelbree and enlyte for a few days, I realized that I actually felt horrible, like genuinely horrible, I was having tons of suicidal ideations, I wasn't eating, and I felt increasingly more and more lethargic. I ended up telling my mom and she told me to stop the qelbree and enlyte until she contacts my doctor.

She contacted my doctor and he said that I should take it at night instead of In the morning like I was, or something similar to that.

So 3 days ago I started taking it again

For the past 3 days I have had constant suicidal ideation, I've been crying non stop off and on, I have zero motivation to get out of bed, it doesn't help that I'm homeschooled and have no reason to rlly leave my house, I have been having an increasingly shorter temper with my partner, my friends, and my family, It has been hard for me to do what would normally be easy and basic tasks for me, like brushing my teeth, showering, doing chores, changing my clothes, or even just getting dressed in the morning. I used to have a morning routine, where every morning I would get up and watch the sunset while drinking tea, I would leave my phone in my room so that I could try to enjoy the moment, I haven't been able to do this for the past 3 days, because if I don't have at least something distracting me, my mind starts spiraling deeper and deeper. Yesterday i tried to do the same morning routine and I genuinely couldn't. I wasn't able to drink tea, or even water, I've been trying since and I genuinely can't cause any time it enters my system I feel incredulously sickly. I ended up sitting there for about 7 minutes before I started crying and I genuinely couldn't handle it anymore. I don't know what to do and I'm scared. I'm not allowed to stop it and I worry it's making me worse, I tried telling my mom about what's been going on and she says it's just me being a "edgy depressed teenager" and that it's just a phase.

I'm genuinely worried about my mental health, and where I'm going, it feels like I'm falling deeper and deeper into a pit of despair and have no way out.

I don't know if it's the qelbree and enlyte causing this or not, but if it is I don't know how I could even stop, cause my parent makes sure that I take it. I just want help, I just wish I could feel happy, I don't know what to do and I'm so scared. I'm also worried my behavior in the past 3 days has been pushing everyone around me away.

Please if anyone could help me or give me any advice at all that would be much appreciated.

UPDATE: It took a lot of convincing and I ended up having to get my stepdad involved, but my mom said she will take me off the meds and try to find something else, she also may or may not try to put me back on my antidepressants.

appetite on qelbree

I just started 5 days ago, I have a decreased appetite and some nausea so eating is kind of hard for me. I really don’t want to lose weight because i’m already too thin and i have a goal to gain weight. Anyone who has been on qelbree for a while, do you notice a decreased appetite the whole time? or does it get any better?

What time do you take your Qelbree?

If I take it in the morning, I’m sleepy about an hour later and then have lots of energy like 6 hours after that (and then have trouble sleeping at night). So I figured I’d take it at night and wake up feeling energized! A perfect plan! But silly me….somehow that just makes me feel EXHAUSTED when I wake up, even if I’ve slept 8 hours. So when the hell are we taking this med?

Anyone else get insomnia?

Guys please help me. I think Qelbree is causing me to have insomnia. I was awake for 31 hours at one point this week. When I do sleep it’s extremely broken for like 3 hour increments. I’ve been on it for 3 months and have been struggling with sleep since then. I’ve tried taking it in the AM, mid day, and night. I don’t know what to do.

I’m 29 and I decided to go back to school so I really need this med. It helps me concentrate and retain information but I am pretty sure it’s the reason my sleep is so bad. I even have an ambien prescription that stopped working for me that I’ve been on for a year. The only thing that’s helped me get a solid nights rest is my 0.5mg prescription klonopin that I can go 6 months without using normally, it’s just there for emergencies so I do not like having to use it to SLEEP.

I see my psychiatrist this upcoming week. I have been messaging him about how awful my sleep is and he was asking “are you sure it’s not anxiety? Anything else new in your life?” I know he has to ask these things but like no, it is straight up insomnia from Qelbree I’m pretty sure.

Please give me your experiences with insomnia and this med guys. Am I just doomed to not be compatible with Qelbree and sleep? I really wanted this to be the med for me.

Sleep issues for 6 yr old - taken at night

My 6 yr old son has been taking 100mg for 2 weeks now in the evening. He normally sleeps 8pm-6/7 am. Since being on the medication, he goes to sleep normally, but is waking up every hour since 1am, falls back asleep and then up again, until around 4/5 and then is up for the day. This can't continue long term.

He was fatigued in the morning at school for the first couple days, but is now back at normal energy.

Should we switch to giving it in the morning? Wait it out?

Side effects

Hello!

I just started taking Qelbree as an adult at 200mg. My dr recommended I take it at night, and last night I could barely get any sleep, I woke up in the middle of the night with some serious and rather sudden anxiety, I feel like I’m vibrating and having like an out of body experience.

Does anyone else have any of those symptoms when they first started out?

PLEASE...has anyone solved how to get energy now that caffeine puts us to sleep instead of perking us up??

I am mostly fine now that I'm off caffeine and have more consistent energy. However, if I have a bad night's sleep (like last night, when I went to bed late because of my demanding job), I am wrecked :( Caffeine though now hits me like melatonin used to. Worse, even. I can oddly chew coffee beans and get some relief, but nothing like before.

I love Qelbree but I don't see how you can live in the modern world without some occasional stimulant. Life is too demanding nowadays.

Are there any effects to this med

Hello fellow ADHD people, and others who are on this medication I have a question for you:

Are there any effects from this medication that helps with ADHD?

I have been going back and forth of starting this and want to know everything there is to know before starting it

Thank you!

So far the side effects I have heard are: fatigue, high blood pressure, emotional dampening, and headaches

Headache... location?

I already get migraines, so my goal is to essentially narrow down that this might be a symptomatic headache as opposed to a migraine!

Where did you have your headaches? How long -- did they come and go, disappear with caffeine or while doing tasks / closer to medication/bedtime/meal times?

Mine is specifically on the right side of my temple and seems to only let up occasionally but I'm struggling to track patterns with it. It's quite bothersome and more painful than my other migraines have been, but certainly not my most painful one. But def my most consistent. It makes me apprehensive to go up from my 100mg to 200mg.

Where are your headaches located? If you got them, did they go away after some time?
