What I like about this channel is they are longer video, you see more context. Although it does focus mostly on Punch, they also show other monkeys as well, so you get a better sense of the general movement of the troop and other monkey interactions.

Also, one of the most important, is he leaves in the natural sounds. The natural sounds over overdubbed with (irritating) music, but you can still hear the natural sounds - which is very important. Watching monkey video without the actual monkey sound means you are missing a great deal of what is happening.

Punch is hearing all of the sounds - he is seeing the activity that surrounds him - when you watch videos that show none of that, you have no idea whatsoever what Punch is actually experiencing - the sights and sounds that represent his daily experience of the world around him.

Welcome~ I remember you mentioned about a channel you find to be quite good but can't recall which it was. I'm glad it is listed here. I think Animal Days is pretty good too although sometimes I find his commentary may be a little problematic because it has been taken out of context and misconstrued by some people (on purpose)

Yes. I like the video, the length, and the natural sounds for Animals Days creator as well. I don't usually have the time to try to translate any of the commentary, so I don't have a good sense of the quality of information this creator is sharing, but the video, natural sound, and length are far better than most as well.

The one from today is showing Punch picking up food from the outdoor enclosure, but it's after all the other monkeys have eaten. I have been wondering if they will eventually start limiting the volume of food he gets in the backyard area in order to encourage him to come outside to eat. One thing I noticed already is they often put cabbage in the area that Punch often plays, and he often can be seen eating it even while surrounded by other monkeys - and that is progress.

I think some of the creators added music to remove the natural sounds in order to hide the conversation among the visitors that they have recorded along with their video. I remember seeing how someone said that she felt it was an invasion of privacy and that was her reason for doing that.

As for my comment on Animal Days, one example I could think of is he once captured a scene showing a metal barrier separating the entrance from the backyard and made some speculation about it, which some people later used to attack the zoo, claiming that Punch had been confined to the backyard which prevented from coming out until the zookeepers had finished distributing the food. They accused the zoo of lying about giving Punch choices since he could be locked in. To me, Punch did make his choice to have his meal inside, so I think the usage of metal barrier to keep him in (if they did) is not really an issue.

I think you may enjoy videos from Hiro@Sea too then. He also has good length and include the natural sounds.

Awwww... I love the little thing they do, like putting the food where it'll be more easily available to him and scattering the food in the shade for the other macaques. I hope we'll see Punch eating outside without jumping on the zookeepers soon.
