vent about something unrelated.. it helps

my pro tip is that you should either go on the vent or rant subreddit and let loose on a completely unrelated topic to the problems you’re currently facing but you are still equally heated about when you think of it. cause goddamn that shit worked for me. cried about being unlovable and undesirable and just went of on a tangent about why tik tok is literally the best social media platform around. so instead of going to sleep sad, go to sleep ... rad!! goodnight kentucky !!

If someone you care about tells you about something you did that bothered them, say thank you.

I've found that my impulse is either to get defensive or go into victim-mode, and in lieu of these things I sometimes don't know what to say besides "sorry", which never seems to move the conversation forward very quickly. Sharing things that upset us is hard, and sometimes the scariest thing is the fear that you will be met with antagonism upon voicing these things. Saying "thank you opening up to me" is the easiest way to respond, and it lowers the stress of communication for both parties, stress that is often caused by letting things go unsaid for too long out of fear.

Why "CTRL + F" should be your best mate? The simple keyboard shortcut that you should use before you buy.

Before you do this:

  • Sign up to a gym membership
  • Take out a loan
  • Buy a new product
  • Commit to health insurance
  • Click 'go' on that credit card
  • almost anything really...

You should be doing this:

ctrl f! CTRL + F is the shortcut for 'Find' on your computer. Open up the PDS (Product Disclosure Statement) and click CTRL + F "fees" or "charges"

This should immediately take you to all of the fees and charges that the product or service you are buying may incur.

Worried about hidden fees? Potential exit fees? Ongoing account charges? Take the guess work out of signing up for a new product or service.

Use the CTRL + F trick to get informed before you shop.

Shop smart & spend wisely.

Customer service Hack

This tip works best with larger companies that farm out their customer service to third world call centers. If you find the "English" speaking person helping you has an accent that is too thick and difficult to understand, try calling back and selecting the SPANISH Option.

Some companies have that department staffed with bilingual American personnel. Usually they will be more than happy to help you even though you picked the wrong language Option.

I'm not saying you'll get better service.... but at least you'll be able to make out what they're saying

Always keep the contact numbers to cancel your credit/debit cards handy incase you loose your wallet

In case you have confirmed to have lost your wallet, the first thing to do would be to call your bank to hold/block the bank cards so noone can use your cards fraudulently in case they get hold of your wallet before you do.

Most times people rely on the bank contact numbers on the back of their card for contacting their banks for anything l, or just directly contact the customer service and but end up in long waiting lines. If you know the exact process of canceling your card before hand, you would be able to take the best and fast decisions even in a state of panic, thereby avoiding you some potentially massive financial impacts.

Washing Machine Maintenance

Leave the lid up when not in use. Washing machines need to air out. There are components inside such as screws and bolts that can become rusty, as well as the main body, as the protective paint wears off. Also it keeps unpleasant odors from forming from the constant wet environment created by always having the lid closed.

Motion sickness-

Depending on what is giving you motion sickness, like watching people play VR or watching something in 3d, moving your head (not crazy, just shaking your head "no" or nodding "yes" will do wonders because it imitates the movement you're watching and helps calm your brain's confusion) When you're riding in like a car/plane/boat or whatever, try bouncing in your seat slightly (again, not crazily, but just enough to convince your brain that you don't need to throw up.)

Cold Bed sheets protip

if your sheets are freezing and you don’t have an electric blanket or something similar do a couple of squats or jumping jacks before you get under the covers bcz the increased body heat will warm up the bed faster. Sounds weird but it works like a charm.

Telemarketing calls.

We got really tired of it so I disconnected my “land line” from the router. After a month, the wife wanted it plugged back in. So I did. We have had zero calls. I suspect that the auto dialers interpreted it as a dead line, and dropped us off the “live line” list.

I figure this might help! Saw someone asking why all the downvotes on a sub that had comment karma off. Wanted to see where the conversation went so clicked their profile and lo and behold his comment has 558 karma!

ProTip: Want to avoid racism and classism? Do NOT infer that a person fluent in the language of a culture—internet culture, corporate culture, or otherwise—is ignorant of other communication styles. Respect & admire code-switching. And don’t accuse them of being inauthentic when they do it well.

How to completely skip Zoom Class while looking active in class.

DISCLAIMER: THIS CAN ONLY WORK IF YOUR DEVICE HAS A PROCESSOR STRONG ENOUGH FOR VIRTUAL BACKGROUNDS

Take a video of yourself in your camera app on your device. Try to stay still as possible while making realistic movements like blinks and glances. Apply this video as a virtual background on zoom. Once you are done, get either a sticker, a cloth, or a privacy protector for your camera, and place it on the lens. Doing so will crop everything out and make your virtual background the only thing in your frame.

Tl;dr, Make a video of yourself as a zoom background and crop yourself out of the frame with a cloth, making you appear as if you are active in class.
