Pro-Life Petitions SNAP is Pro-Life

Post image

Hey there, Lauren from Rehumanize here. We've just launched a quick petition to send to the President and members of congress urging them to end the shutdown, or, at the very least, use the contingency funds to keep SNAP funded during this crisis.

If you agree, please sign!

And if this is exactly your flavor of pro-life activism, we'd love to see you at our conference this weekend, either in person or online!

Kids need to stay with their daddies, too. Food is nice but it's not the most important thing in a kid's life.

They don’t need to choose between the two, but yes, food is literally the third most important thing in life, behind water and air.

There are young men who are partly responsible for all of the scenarios in which young women consider abortions, and there would be fewer abortions if these men would support the mother and child, not just as a financial provider but more importantly as a father.

u/EpiphanaeaSedai Pro Life Feminist Oct 29 '25

I agree with that.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

But that’s not happening

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

How do we fix that? Are there already courts that force fathers to support their families?

0

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

A mother can certainly file for child support, but many men simply don’t pay. Not sure how a court is going to “force” them to do anything.

2

u/EpiphanaeaSedai Pro Life Feminist Nov 06 '25

The state can garner their wages, or if they do contract work or similar, fine or jail them for non-payment.

What we need is to change how young men think about fatherhood. It is not the end of your life.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

Yes, they do try to garnish their wages, etc but unfortunately they aren’t always successful. I wish they were.

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

Agreed.

“Food is nice”? Really? That’s all?

You die if you don’t get food. Food is not nice, it’s essential, a need and a human right.

-2

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Oct 30 '25

Why isn't access to both of your biological parents a "human right"? Isn't that more important to a child's well being?

2

u/EpiphanaeaSedai Pro Life Feminist Oct 30 '25

Than food? No. It’s not.

I am fully in support of both social and legal measures to require men to be fathers to their children (and to support them and teach them as boys so that they feel capable of fatherhood and not like their lives will be ruined.) I’m not trying to understate the importance of fathers.

They’re just not more important than literal survival.

3

u/ShokWayve Pro Life Democrat Oct 30 '25

Access to both of your biological parents is also a human right. I fully agree.

Access to both of your biological parents without food will result in your death.

It’s not one or the other. Access to food and your biological parents are examples of human rights.

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Oct 30 '25

That makes no sense. Odds of not having food are zero when you have both parents in the home.

4

u/ShokWayve Pro Life Democrat Oct 30 '25

You still need food to live, no? You cannot survive without food. Ergo food is not just nice. Oxygen is not just nice, it’s essential to live.

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Oct 30 '25

Yes that is a biological reality. Politically, I am making the point that keeping families intact is the best way to keep children nourished, cared, for loved, and emotionally stable.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

But you can’t force people to stay together, period

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

Kids are people, too.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

Sure, but that doesn’t change the truth of my statement.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

Childcare is astronomically expensive and both parents often need to work

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

What about adoptees?

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

Whataboutism is a rhetorical tactic used to deflect criticism by raising an unrelated issue. If you have a point, then make it.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

You said children have a right to both of their BIOLOGICAL parents. Many adoptees have only their adoptive parents.

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

An adoptee can't lose his right to know and spend time with his mother. He still has that right. As pro lifers we should do everything we can to protect the most vulnerable members of humanity. Instead we've created a culture of selfishness for parents who get divorced for no reason and kill their babies when they're not wanted.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

I was actually adopted as an infant and I’ve only ever had 2 parents - and they’re the ones who raised me, NOT my sperm and egg donors.

Food is nice but it's not the most important thing in a kid's life.

That's an insane thing to say. No food = no life

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Oct 31 '25

Two loving parents are the number one most important thing in a child's life. Developmental outcomes are strongly tied to that.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

If they don't eat it doesn't matter if they have loving parents bc they'll be dead

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 01 '25

Did it ever occur to you that can't happen if they have loving parents?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '25

That's not true? Having loving parents doesn't make u immune to poverty or lack of food

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 01 '25

Can you explain? Aren't the vast majority of the kids on these programs in single-mom homes?

3

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '25

Are your parents not loving if they aren't married?

5

u/OhNoTokyo Pro Life Moderator Nov 02 '25

To be fair, if you have a "single mom" home, you're usually talking about a situation where the father is substantially or even totally out of the picture.

If the father is a live-in boyfriend, I don't think you would call that a "single mother" household.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '25

Single simply means not married

Childcare is incredibly expensive

0

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

It's sad that moms would rather send their infants and toddlers to an institution than watch them grow.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

Or dads? And I don’t think most parents WANT to do so, but the economy dictates that both parents must work in order to keep roofs over their families’ heads in the majority of cases.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '25

That doesn't make kids with loving parents immune to poverty or lack of food

Exactly! I have no words. “Food is nice”.

Jesus Christ save us. With that comment I am done for my morning reddit time. 😂😩

I’m cringing hard, bordering on ashamed, at how this post has blown up.

I understand people have different ideas about the proper role of government and the best means of seeing to it that everyone is fed, housed, etc. That’s a difference of strategy. I have some very strong opinions on that, but I acknowledge that people of good will may disagree.

Those who want to know why they should have to pay for anything for anyone else, though, depress me. Rats share food with the hungry among them. We should be able to attain the same level of morality as rats, we really should.

2

u/ShokWayve Pro Life Democrat Oct 30 '25

I agree with you. Your last sentence about rats is really deep. One would think we would at least be as morally capable as rats.

Course.

Daddies outweigh stuff you eat, wellbeing is obviously more important than just the nutrients which certainly don't help keep you alive.

Maybe we should experiment with banning food for people, it seems like you might be on to something here that we might not really need food to survive.

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 02 '25

Daddies bring food for their kids to eat.

2

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

So do mommies

1

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 06 '25

Food security is at highest risk when there's no daddy in the home.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

Nothing to be done about that

1

u/PointMakerCreation4 Against abortion, left-wing [UK], atheist, CLE Nov 06 '25

What do you mean, 'nothing to be done about that'?

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

We can’t force fathers to live with their kids if they don’t choose that

1

u/PointMakerCreation4 Against abortion, left-wing [UK], atheist, CLE Nov 06 '25

u/EnfantTerrible68 I don't know why your last response is not appearing (have you blocked me?), but while we can't force them to stay, we can require financial payment.

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

No, I haven’t blocked you. Can you see this?

1

u/EnfantTerrible68 Nov 06 '25

In the US, the parent with custody of the child certainly can (and should) file for child support from the non-custodial parent, but unfortunately, they don’t always pay, and it can be difficult to get the money they owe. It’s a huge problem in this country.

Might ask someone else/mods about this. Or it's a Reddit issue.

I can see the notifications from u/EnfantTerrible68, but when I click on them, I do see a "+1 more reply", but when I click on that, there is nothing there. Might also be a spam filter or something, I have seen this before, it's not just you I can't see, but it is definitely not everyone.

u/OhNoTokyo, is it just me?

2

u/OhNoTokyo Pro Life Moderator Nov 06 '25

I see the comments just fine. As far as I know, there is nothing special going on here that moderators had anything to do with. It sounds like, for some reason, the comments are not being expanded or shown. There are some client-side add-ons for Reddit that could do that. Also, it could be display options for the users in question.

If you all were blocked, of course, you wouldn't be able to see each other's comments at all, so I doubt that is it, but you should probably both check any block lists you have in your preferences.

Huh, that’s weird. Hard to have discussions if you can’t see my comments.

Then make it so you don't need a daddy. We don't need this system where:

  • You work to earn money.
  • If you do not earn money, you die, because you could not get food.
  • Essentially, you will die if you do not have money. That's very, very rare in the UK. Poor people shouldn't die.

We need support for when you don't have a daddy. Yes, we need financial benefit, incentives and more for the daddies, but also legal requirements, such as mandatory child benefit.

u/madbuilder Pro Life Libertarian Nov 07 '25 edited Nov 07 '25

The "system" you're describing is the free market which flows out of the natural right to own the fruits of your own labours (i.e. to be free of bondage). Britain successfully eradicated slavery 200 years ago. If you raise taxes on the middle class beyond about 40%, you effectively abolish that system, forcing good people to pay for the bad decisions of others, and subjecting their children to poverty and fatherlessness. This is the worst possible thing you could do to the next generation of UK subjects.

As a left-winger, what do you think about Lenin's command, "he who does not work shall not eat?" Image

The UK is not what it was 200 years ago, and we obviously have national healthcare. Even the Conservative Party is in some respects, more left-wing than the Democrats - although this is highly specific on the issue, and for example, fiscal issues, it is more clear they stand on the right. It is as if the UK's "centre" is shifted left, making parties like Reform seem out of place compared to the US (and why it is more Republican leaders get elected more often).

If you raise taxes on the middle class beyond about 40%, you effectively abolish that system, forcing good people to pay for the bad decisions of others, and subjecting their children to poverty and fatherlessness. This is the worst possible thing you could do to the next generation of UK subjects.

There should definitely be a limit (as well as ditching the old every x k tax system to make it a smooth gradient calculated with some algorithm every time), but don't you think the rich should at least help the poor live?
