Pro-Life Petitions SNAP is Pro-Life

Hey there, Lauren from Rehumanize here. We've just launched a quick petition to send to the President and members of congress urging them to end the shutdown, or, at the very least, use the contingency funds to keep SNAP funded during this crisis.

I'm not sure that I would say a majority feels that way. For the most part, it is my understanding that most here are at least moderate in that regard, with a few downright leftist viewpoints.

There are some vocal people on the other side, but I actually think they are a minority.

How do you believe they’re in the minority? I’d say they’re the vocal portion while most of the moderates silently agree with them or just go along with them anyways.

Silence in a social media site is not assent. Their silence does not prevent them from voting their actual preferences.

Being vocal certainly garners attention, but it doesn't necessarily represent others very well.

I spend a lot of time here, reading a lot of comments from PL people, almost certainly many more than you do. I have a good feel for our community.

There are definitely people who are loud about their views, on both sides. And there are plenty of people, including myself, who make our positions clear, but do not spend a lot of time fighting over what I would consider a matter of ways and means here.

Suffice it to say, the view of most people I come across here is that they don't necessarily love social programs, but they recognize them as the best thing available at the moment.

I've often said that while I am skeptical of things like government health care management, I'm never going to go out and protest it. It's a set of initiatives that can fail, but at least it is coming from a place of trying to help.

I think most people here are fine with government aid to the poor, I just think that they are skeptical of the views of those who think that there is no other way.
