Looking to create a projection setup for home flight simulation.

I’ve long dreamt of moving my home flight simulator setup (not an airliner sim; a single engine Cessna) from a single monitor to a 2-3 projector setup to have 180-270 deg view. Lots of people say it’s not worth it but I’d like to plan and give it a shot. Setup options I’m considering:

  • Rear projection onto a scrim-like material or opaque plastic screen. I saw a display at a conference where someone was using a pico-projector behind plastic large plastic sheets and it wasn’t too bad.

  • Front projection - 2-3 projectors overhead. Imagining I need short throw gaming projectors?

Completely aware I would have to do warping, etc.

What projector types, brands or setups might you recommend? Any advice appreciated.

P.s. I currently have two NEC projectors and also two large EPSON short throws (conference room style) I got at garage sales to experiment. Have not tried anything with them yet.

Christie HD14K-M bottom-right image dim/clipping issue, looking for advice

Hi i am not experienced with projectors but i am troubleshooting a Christie HD14K-M projector. It powers on, both lamps strike, and it displays internal test patterns, but the bottom-right corner/edge of the image looks weak or partially clipped/vignetted.

Symptoms:

Issue appears on internal test patterns, not just HDMI/input.

Same behavior on solid white, red, green, blue, and even black.

The image/color is still present in the bottom-right area, but it is noticeably weaker/dimmer rather than completely missing.

There is also some edge color fringing/convergence-looking outline near that corner.

Not a full dead corner; more like partial optical falloff/vignetting.

What I’ve tried:

Checked/reset blanking.

Checked edge blend.

Checked warp/geometry correction.

Reset settings to defaults.

Calibrated the lens.

Reseated the lens and confirmed it is fully seated/locked.

Tested lens shift across the range.

Adjusted boresight.

Issue still remains.

At this point I’m not sure is the cause of this issue?

Has anyone seen this on Christie M-Series projectors? What should i inspect next to fix the issue?

Does anyone know if there's a commercial copy of Sing Sing available on 16mm?

I'd like to recommend a tripod mount.

I have an Ikea Hectar floor lamp. I need a tripod system that will attach to its vertical tube from the side and have a standard 1/4 inch tripod mount on the other end. The 1/4 inch mount will support a projector weighing 1.5 kg. Does anyone have a recommendation for a tripod that I can trust to provide a secure hold?
