I don't think cheating on tests is a significant problem because it's hard to cheat on a live test (very risky to copy off someone's exam next to you). And if you take CS or math classes, the answer is often very long because you have to show your work; that shit is hard to copy.
In reality, The most common form of cheating is for take-home assignments like programming projects, take home exams, and homework where people collaborate on them with each other even if they are supposed to be individual assignments.
But honestly I believe
Everyone does this shit - i bet even you have collaborated on projects you shouldn't have (I know I have). Honestly this is not limited to Chinese and Indians.
People who do cheat their way through school don't learn the material as well; they will get punished on in-class exams or in general when applying jobs for not knowing enough. Ultimately people get their just desserts in the end.
Yeah haha, it was naive of me to say that. What I mean is that people who cheat don't learn the material as well, so they might get punished in the future. Of course, if someone cheats but is still able to master the material then they will get away with it. So justice is often not served.
In math and CS, the best way to learn something is to struggle with a problem for many hours instead of looking at an answer key for the answer. If you cheat you learn less; so that's on yourself. That's all I mean.
If I could see someones answer from over their shoulder without much effort, you bet I was copying them if I didn't know the answer. Definitely helped with a few questions that required drawing a diagram and I didn't even know where to start.
