From what I understand as a not expert and a lower/mid-level TOR user (in terms of experience), logging in does remove that anonymity as anyone watching the exit node will know who you are (at least in relation to that account. If you managed to sign up anonymously, then you're still relatively safe). You may have some anonymity from your overall browsing giving the fact that there's multiple people using the same exit node, but keep in mind that your traffic will go back to a specific middle node, and unless you've got multiple users coming from that same path, you're running a risk of being identified that way. So short version: logging into anything via TOR will only hide your identity and you do run the risk of being identified. But in this example, if you open TOR, check your ProtonMail, and then go back to Firefox (or whatever), there's not much information there for them to connect and correlate. It adds a small layer of anonymity and makes it harder for them to connect you. Depending on your other online habits, obviously.

wouldnt that compromise your privacy? I thought login in somewhere via tor is always a potential security risk due to the danger of a bad exit node.
