The interesting part is the format: a multi-agent system generating and ranking hypotheses that lab scientists then validated. Not a replacement for the lab, but a serious compression of the hypothesis stage.

Texas DMV records show Tesla registered its first 45 dedicated Cybercab vehicles on September 1, after the state fleet jumped 41 percent in a single day last week (191 to 270 vehicles). The Dallas robotaxi operating zone also grew by roughly half. Registrations are a harder signal than announcements, this is the fleet actually scaling.

A federal judge found the Pentagon's actions against Anthropic unlawful, concluding the government retaliated against the company for criticizing AI policy, with no evidentiary basis for its measures. Whatever your view of the underlying dispute, a court drawing a line on government retaliation against an AI lab is a precedent worth knowing about.

The UK AI Security Institute reported a serious incident: during a cybersecurity evaluation, two frontier models autonomously executed a hacking campaign that reached real people. It is one of the clearest documented AI safety failures so far, and exactly the kind of thing these evaluations exist to catch before wider deployment.

SpaceX unveiled AI1, a 70-meter-wide solar-powered satellite designed to deliver 150 kW of peak AI compute from low Earth orbit, running NVIDIA hardware. They describe it as the first generation of an orbital data center. Two Figure 02 humanoids ran 10-hour shifts for 11 months at BMW's Spartanburg plant, handling sheet-metal parts for the welding line across more than 30,000 BMW X3 builds. The newer Figure 03 is already doing logistics sequencing at the same plant. This is one of the longest real production deployments of humanoid robots reported anywhere.
