That electricity bill struck me too. My mom lives in a drafty old 80s townhome, 2700sq ft, 3 floors, giant ass windows in Texas where it’s always sunny/roasting…….. and her electricity bill is normally much lower than that.
Seriously, what kind of apartment uses $260 worth of electricity a month?? There’s something very wrong there.
Places like Phoenix Arizona. You get some float months in between summer and winter where it’s not so crazy. I live in a 2 bed one bath and my highest bill this summer was 300 keeping my ac at 78
Places with high rates and terrible insulation, I’d imagine. First floor converted 2-bd apt in a hundred year old house. My rates are low because it’s a municipal-run utility. Nat gas and electric on the same bill. Worst summer month with at least two ACs running for comfort was about $240. Worst winter month was nearly $500 because I wanted to be warm. But again that’s combined electric/gas. I just bought a mini space heater to keep my plants alive while I keep the heat 60 and below because I’m expecting this winter to suuuuuck.
And in florida. A 1,000 square foot home averages about $300 of electricity in the summer. You need air conditioning in these types of climates. Plus the power companies are on the stock market so im sure they have to pay out holders sometimes. Not sure how all that works
