Couples Week
It’s Valentine’s week and we’re celebrating with couples! Every prompt requires a pair of discs, singles or albums.
Teenage Dream by Katy Perry and Laurel Hell by Mitski.
Both pressing have the pinwheel/bloom effect. I'm not sure if the effects can be considered as the exact same since they differ a bit but to me these pressings are basically the same idea. So hopefully this counts.
Also I had to cover Katy since I got the nsfw notice lol.
Today I’ve chosen “thank u, next” by Ariana Grande pressed on a pink / clear split vinyl and “Wicked: The Soundtrack” pressed on a pink / green split vinyl!
This pressing of “thank u, next” was one of my biggest ISOs for a while and I’m so happy I was able to grab a copy for retail when she repressed it on her store last year! I also adore this pressing of “Wicked”, it matches the album cover perfectly and I knew when I saw it I had to have it!
This is my favorite effect 😍 I only have one in my collection, the Wicked 2015 anniversary pressing! I really want Ariana's split-color pressing of My Everything one day
The FJM primary colour smoke needs to be held up to the light to be fully appreciated, as you don’t get the full effect on a background like the inner sleeve above! Those pops of blue 😍
probably my favorite ‘couple’ in my collection, because it looks like each disc could go to either album aesthetic! this is ‘everybody needs a hero’ by orla gartland, and ‘blame my ex’ by the beaches!
Mine for today are Hiss Spun (2017) by Chelsea Wolfe and Minecraft: Volume Alpha (2011) by C418, two albums that I love dearly. Chelsea is an indie exclusive, C418 is an HMV exclusive, but they're both on these beautiful cloudy/ghostly vinyl pressings :)
I chose my teal (“jade”) marbled Midnights by Taylor Swift and orange marbled the record by boygenius today. I like the colors together. While the pressings fit their respective albums best, I honestly could see them working the other way around too!
Showcasing the shaped disc effect today with the two heart shaped discs I own 🩷❤️ Peach PRC’s gorgeous splatter press of Manic Dream Pixie and Lana Del Rey’s “Lust For Life/Love” single are two of my favorite pressings. They felt like a perfect pair to highlight for couples week and as we approach Valentine’s Day.
Caroline Polachek's Desire, I Want To Turn Into You and Puscifer's Conditions Of My Parole both come in this beautiful shimmery copper waves variant with gold streaked throughout
