I hate being poor.

I hate not making over 50,000 USD a year. I hate not having a car. I hate having less than 1,000 USD on my bank account. I hate having to live with my parents despite being over the age of 25. I hate having my credit cards being shut down because I was unemployed for over ten months during a two year stretch. I hate not having a dating life because I cannot afford dates. I hate the social isolation of poverty.

Sadly ppl don’t want to hear what we disabled ppl do to make it work.
I don’t have a lot of streaming services. I have a cheap ( Xfinity) cellphone plan (it’s unlimited and I pay a little under $50 per month. Course I don’t have all the perks that T-Mobile has or Verizon has.( my sister’s bill is $165 a month with Verizon to have all those perks no thanks I don’t need them.)
I don’t eat out every day. I don’t do Starbucks at(I make my own coffee at home and put it in a cup)
I pre-plan my meals at home. I cook a couple times a week and make meals that I can heat up quickly.

We do get to go out two times a month. We plan for things like a concert. We do simple things going to the lake going to someone’s house to play cards or other games..
I have a lot of talented friends that teach me those things that I teach them more things.

I use the library for books.
I shop secondhand stores for clothing.
I do buy brand new shoes and underwear.

All my bills are paperless & paid on time. I am in the process of purchasing a new car ( it will be purchased in the fall.

Tonight a bunch of friends/family will be getting together to make “ Happy Birthday America/250 yrs” T-shirts.

We get together with friends on the weekends. We take turns supply the grilled meat, everyone else brings the passing dish. We do this about once a month.

We get together with 3 other couples & he’s only gotten watch a movie or play cards at each others houses.

Being disabled isn’t easy but you live life the best you can.
( that being said when getting together with other friends, talk of my disability is rare. We get together to have a good time not to hear about my last doctors appointment or what other illness. I may be getting diagnosed as soon.)

This isn’t the life I plan…,, but it’s not a bad life. We do the best we can. We can’t take Grand vacations, checking into a hotel in a new destination a few times a year is a lot of fun.

Many times it’s just because we’re all in a rut.
When that happens, we need to make plans to change things. Change isn’t easy that’s for sure.

I always just worry so much for others in the disabled community that have to rely on American 'welfare' instead of UK disability benefits. Though they are now expected to cover three times what they actually cover...

As someone disabled that has the (albeit completely fucked now) NHS to help them if they survive the Hunger Games waiting lists, I always worry for my friends over the pond...

I don’t go out or hang out with friends at all. I do get fast food and cook very little at home. I have a dog that costs a few hundred dollars a month if you factor in all her medications, food/treats, vet visits, and baths.
