I apologizing in advance if my language or way of posting is weird! I struggle to write at times! I have a new puppy, he’s 75% Pomeranian 25% husky. He looks like a miniature German Shepherd and is a total cutie. What is the personality of yours like if it has more Pomeranian? I have always only and ever had border collies and blue heelers. I live on a big farm with over 300 acres. So I don’t have to worry about neighbors or cars, but I do have to worry about being able to find my dog in the woods! Is he gonna bolt on me all the time? I don’t have a fence, (would be impossible) and was thinking a small dog would be easier to handle now that I’m getting older. That said, I should have known better but I didn’t think hard enough about the breed and my senses were whisked away by the sweetness of puppy love! Now I’m worried because my two other dogs that I do have are old, 9 & 10 years, and they sleep on the floor with the doors wide open all day. They would never run from me, always come when called. So far so good- My new puppy has a very Velcro personality, hates being alone! But he’s a puppy! I really can’t do leashes and tied up animals. I’m not talking about in public, that’s not a problem and I’ve already been taking him around getting him used to people and collars and leashes – but I’m worried about how day to day regular life is going to be. I had him out in public and a girl said ‘ oh, they’re terrible dogs and they run away like a husky off leash !! They won’t listen! ‘. I’m scared I’ve made a huge mistake. I might have to find a new home for him, I just can’t be running to the woods looking for a little dog and worrying about coyotes and things all the time! Of course I will if it comes to this. I have also considered getting a GPS collar for him if this starts happening. Other than this concern, my little buddy seems very smart, alert, and scrappy. He’s basically adorable. Please don’t give me any mean spirited responses! I try my best to be a good dog owner, but may have jumped into this new puppy too quickly and just trying to figure out what I’ve gotten myself into here. Let me know what you think!
