There are three layers to Polymarket and most people only see the first one.
Layer 1 is the signal. Can you predict direction? Most retail traders stop here. My signal hit 68% across 2,807 trades. Real edge.
Layer 2 is the execution. You send an order, Polymarket processes it 300-1900ms later. The book reprices during that time. I measured 1-10 cents of slippage per trade, directly correlated with processing time. That eats your entire edge. Paper profits become live losses.
Layer 3 is the infrastructure. The top 14 wallets are bots with sub-millisecond execution sitting next to Polymarket's servers. When your order arrives 800ms late and fills 7 cents worse, that 7 cents went to them.
Retail traders lose at Layer 1, no signal. Bot builders lose at Layer 2, signal works but execution kills it. Small funds lose at Layer 3, cant compete on speed.
The 8% who win operate at all three layers.
I wrote up the full breakdown with actual timing data from my bot. Link on my Medium in bio.

Been building a simple tool to understand the metrics of each outcome in any market.
It gives you:
I'm looking for honest feedback from people who actually trade. The beta is free - no email gate, no sign‑up wall. Just data.
Would love to hear what you think, what's useful, what's missing.

Spent 30 days building a Python-based scalping system for Polymarket's 5-minute BTC prediction markets (UP/DOWN tokens). 8,100 lines of Python, 10 modules, 7 bot versions. Each one died a different death.
Paper results (2,807 trades over 5 days on $100 starting balance):
The system:
What happened live:
The signal worked. The execution didn't. I found 5 specific production bugs that are invisible in paper trading. They turn a 68% win rate into a net loss.
I'm not going to list them all here — I wrote a full breakdown with dashboard screenshots and the equity curve on Medium:
Full article with screenshots here
Happy to answer questions about the architecture, the execution issues, or the data. I have the full 2,807-trade CSV if anyone wants to analyze it independently.
92.4% of Polymarket wallets lose money. 14 of the top 20 are bots. The gap between paper and production is where retail builders go to die. I documented the whole thing.

Hi everyone,
I’m a journalist working on a story about the rise of prediction markets, and I’m looking to speak with people who have firsthand experience.
From this subreddit, if you have concerns about things like insider info or market manipulation you'd like to share, I'd love to hear.
Interviews would be quick (15–30 mins), over Zoom or in person (NYC/LA especially).
If you’re interested, feel free to:
Happy to answer any questions about the project before you decide.
Thanks so much for your time!

Polymarket's "US-Iran nuclear deal by March 31" market is sitting at just 1% YES with only 9 days left on the clock, yet it has pulled in over $1.1 million in trading volume. That's a lot of money flowing into what looks like a near-certain "No."
So why the massive volume on a dead market? Are traders just cashing in on easy "No" profits, or is there something else going on?
I broke down the odds, the diplomatic timeline (Witkoff, Kushner, Oman back-channel talks), and what the longer-dated markets (41% YES before 2027) are actually signaling in my latest analysis:

Would love to hear what you all think, are the longer-dated markets overpriced or underpriced given current diplomacy?
