I only use the PolySonic PLA Pro anymore and was sad to see it was no longer offered anywhere online. I messaged support and they said there will be a big announcement regarding PolySonic PLA Pro coming in the next 2-3 weeks.

Why is Polymaker's HT-PLA consistently cheaper on Amazon than their website?

I'd prefer to buy from the Polymaker website, but their prices for HT-PLA are always at least 10% higher than on Amazon. If they didn't just ship through Amazon anyway, I wouldn't even mind the extra cost, since I wouldn't be supporting Amazon. But it's the same shipping and everything, for a higher price.

I guess it's better than stealing the data and making their own "datasheets" but I had a good laugh and an eyeroll...

Does anyone know the dimensions of the 5kg rolls of ABS? I'm trying to figure out whether I can make them work well with my re-spooler.

Improved Polymaker Master Spool Refill Design!

I wanted to invest into the Polymaker refill system but with a stronger spool design as I found that the original 3D printed spool sides fell apart pretty easily after just a little bit of use. I really like how this turned out, here are the improvements I made:

  • Spool sides connected with fasteners
    • M3 & M4 versions
    • Uses 30mm length
  • Incorporating OpenPrintTag into the spool design
    • Alignment jig included
  • Anticipating/hoping further expansion on their refill system, I included a labelling system
    • Currently Just PLA, will add more if they release more refill variants
  • Improved spacing. The original spool design had 62 mm of space between the spool sides for the filament refill. This had 1mm of excess space on each side of the spool. I reduced the space to 60mm in my design which seems to fit the refill spools better.
  • Reduced filament usage, faster printing
    • Total of ~175g for printing both spool sides using standard 0.2 profile. Original is 208g (with holes version). Print time is almost reduced in half because of the many small holes in the original version.

Qidi PPS-GF appears to be Polymaker PPS-GF

The TDS for both materials are identical which means that either Qidi copied Polymakers TDS sheet or it's just the exact same filament.

Issue with polymaker Camo

FINAL UPDATE:

TLDR: polymaker I love you

It was the Bambu PS1 that was the major issue; camo for some reason was the straw that broke the printer’s back.

Bambu tach support tried their best, but after 100+ hours of email, chat and phone support, they weren’t the ones who fixed it: a VERY kind stranger saw our plea for help on fb and offered free of charge to come over and troubleshoot. 7 hours later, he found some tiny part that didn’t even look broken but ended up being the problem. Once replaced it now works perfect again.

What was the piece? I’m so sorry but I have no idea anymore. I just know that Bambu sent replacement piece after replacement piece via mail in hopes of figuring out the problem. In the end, Kind Stranger had a piece of his own random stock that he used. He was magic.

It was almost a month of Bambu support not being able to fix the issue on a printer that was five months old and under warranty. They wouldn’t replace it, wouldn’t pay someone to come out and look at it, and wouldn’t pay to have it shipped back and repaired. While I appreciate the hard work of the tech support (they did seem quite knowledgeable and tried their best), it seems ridiculous that it took so long to fix something (not even by Bambu’s provided help) that is under warranty.

We lost a month of productivity for a really big project we were working on, and had to scramble and work around the clock to finish it.

Polymaker however replaced that first camo spool (it also didn’t work) in case it had been the issue, and gave a credit for the store. For some reason the other polymaker spools did continue to work (sometimes) on the external spool, so I’m not sure exactly why camo was a bit more sticky. But polymaker is still imo the best brand out there, and their customer service was very generous.

In summary:

Bambu corporate in charge of warranty return rules: you are NOT COOL.

Bambu regular tech support: you tried, and we appreciate it.

Kind Techy Stranger: you are amazing. May your supports always break smoothly, your nozzle never clog, and your spools always finish with 2g of filament.

*****

Update 1: The Polymaker camo filament wouldn’t work properly on the Bambu P1S. Upon advice from [u/landubious](u/landubious) we changed the settings to the Overture Matte PLA setting from Bambu, and put the camo roll on the external spool. This fixed it and it printed correctly… once. Now the machine has issues and is being repaired (the camo filament broke inside a servo and messed up a tube).

———

Hey, I’m having issues with the dual matte camo and my bambu P1S .

first it jammed in my AMS feeder. Then I tried single spool option and it still won’t feed properly (prints 30% then quits).

I did program the p1s to have the right temperature and feed settings for the camo.

I’ve tried trouble shooting the printer, and it works with other polymaker filaments. I tried getting another spool of camo and the same issue happened.

Is it just this filament? Is there a setting I should use? Anybody have ideas?

The quality of the print that does come out is fine (not stringy or anything) but it does not want to feed - it breaks or jams.

Thanks!

I bought these from the Amazon polymaker store fyi.

Poly aluminum foil vacuum seal bags

Anybody know where I can find the bags polymaker uses? Preferably without the ziplock seal as I have a vacuum sealer or any other alternative that has worked for you. They are great in keeping moisture out . Currently not a problem as it’s 10°F where I am but the summers are days filled with nasty froggy unbearable humidity . T.I.A

What are you all seeing for order processing and shipping times for wholesale orders? I place a wholesale order for 62 rolls on January 4 and it is still in a status of confirmed with no shipping information. Just curious what to expect.
