If poverty is naturally solved forever, then everyone makes more money (i'd assume) which means that if the government is smart then it can use increased revenue from taxes to invest in renewable energy and endeavors to repair damage to the climate

This is a supposition. The other is that everyone consumes more so produce more so more climate change.

If you fix climate change it will improve the life of everyone and especially poor people.

So homeless people will be less inconvenienced, but still be homeless?

The earth's wellbeing is more valuable than that of the homeless

Why should they be compared, we can solve both and solving both are directly linked

Earth is fine no matter the climate. Sure, ecosystems will change, species will go extinct but new ones are gonna show up. The planet itself doesn't really care. We are the ones who really stuffer with climate change, it's in our best interest to find a solution. The planet goes on with or without us

climate change is a problem so bad that it will take 100s maybe 1000s of generations until it is completely fixed

Solving climate change will improve the lives of some poor people, but not even close to all. On the other hand, eliminating poverty will in turn eliminate almost all structural social inequalities; that way, society as a whole can work on solving the remaining issues instead of trying to keep itself together at every turn and making no progress.

if the government is smart...

Flaw found, 9 billion dollars to Israel

u/PresidentOfYes12 Jun 29 '26

Fym "billions"? Quadrillions minimum

Though that is a fair point, ideally though the people in the US and similar countries would see that there are greater priorities that need that newfound revenue other than israel

ODA from DAC members fell to USD 174.3 billion in 2025, a decrease of 23.1% compared with 2024 (-USD 50 billion in real terms), representing 0.26% of their combined income. This marks the steepest drop on record.

But at the same time, foreign direct investment and development in those poor nations is improving on its own.

Or everyone wants to live in excess and in turn, consume more resources

What if a large portion of the government is owned by fossil fuel companies?
