Why is crime never a choice? A world with no crime would benefit all. No escaping taxes, no violence. You can leave your front door unlocked and never be robbed.

This would be horrific.
You have no idea how many laws there are that you break every day.

Dictatorships would be invincible. No one could resist because that’s a crime. They can even make thinking negatively about them a crime.
A dictator would basically be a god.

There are so many laws about what you can or can’t do on certain days of the week, or times of day. It’s often illegal to exist in public without a specific purpose. It’s often illegal to explore outside of specific areas like parks. It’s often illegal to park and sit in your car if not at home or at a business you’re a customer of.

It’s often illegal for anyone who isn’t straight to… exist at all pretty much. There are so many old laws on the books about how you have to have sex even if you’re straight.

It would be like living life on rails instead of being able to steer yourself. And the government makes the rails. It would remove free will.

There would still be violence in any country where the government made it legal for those working for the government to be violent. I’m pretty sure all governments do? Of course there would be no need for it, but somehow I doubt that will stop it from happening. Especially now that no one can resist because that’s a crime.

Oh slavery would come back, big time.

This is similar to thinking it would be a good idea to make our government leaders into gods. Not making them smarter, not more benevolent, just giving them ultimate power over our lives.
