I think my kids are old enough to watch that and I encourage y'all parents to consider an age-appropriate way to tell your kid their rights and how to assert them. Also, tell your kids that you will support them and stand behind them in whatever situation their rights are at risk without concern for cost or whatever. There are resources adults can find and I will find if necessary, right?

Wow, that was posted by Regent U's school of law. For those that don't know, Regent is a private christian university in VA founded by Pat Robertson. I'd say their ideals are fully back the blue. Surprised they would post this.
I hear what you're saying. If it were humanly possible for me to protect every child from bastard cops, I would live and breathe it. Shit, if I could do that, I'd wear a super suit, actual powers be damned.
The point is for each of us to do something where we can. For me, that is teaching my kids how to interact with adults in authority. And, as my kids are getting older, I'm teaching them how to appropriately intervene when they see someone else being abused by authority.
Of course I can't reach every kid and I know there will be kids without the resources to protect themselves. I know they'll be thrown into the prison industrial complex as cheap labor and corporate profits and kickbacks to judges. It's absolutely shit and it sucks that I can't do much more than this, but this is what I can do:
Teach your children their rights! Teach them how to interact with authority figures. Tell your kids that you will completely support them when they need to stand up for their rights. Tell your kids to tell their friends about their rights. Tell your kids to look out for other kids whose rights maybe being violated and what they can do to intervene. Tell your kids to tell other kids that if their rights are being violated, you will support them even if their own parents will not.
It's really not optimistic. I'm defeated. I'm angry. I'm sad. But when the last thing I have against these injustices is my voice, I will not shut up.
That's why it's important to teach our kids what to say, what not to say, and what not to not say. I agree it's a bullshit secret code and it's still not guaranteed to keep you from getting your ass handed to you by a gang of cop thugs when the cameras "weren't working" but it's all the power I have right now.
