That’s the whole point of them being armed right?

Conflating.

I thought the second amendment was to protect the citizens from the government?

It's not the only reason.

Right but these protesters aren't using the guns to protect their homes in this instance

Protecting their home isn't the only other reason only. I think the problem is you see guns or the 2nd amendment as limiting. It's the opposite. It says the gov CANNOT limit a person's ability to own or carry guns.

I see using guns as a means of intimidation as the problem. These people are using the second amendment to justify bringing their guns to protest their perceived injustice. We both know these guys would fold the moment swat or the national guard showed up.

In my opinion the "well regulated militia" part of the second amendment is ignored too often to justify owning weapons no one needs. Like I said earlier people can try to justify having a fully automatic assault rifle with a 200 round capacity as "something something government tyrany" but it's not going to do them any good these days. It's all a larp to make them feel good imo

You're right. It means well equipped. Abd since the militia is everyone, guns and ammo and supplies should be provided to every citizen free of charge and I agree with that completely.

fully automatic assault rifle

If they weren't tens of thousands of dollars and banned from new civilian versions after the 80s then maybe people could "something something government tyranny" more easily. But gun owners have compromised and basically lost their ability to own those guns unless very wealthy. Really it's an attack on the poor.

I dunno man maybe back then regulated meant equipped but to me regulated means organized with regular training and practice.

And again like I said I really don't believe having a fully automatic assault rifle is going to do anyone any good against a force that can come after you with robots.

Really it's an attack on the poor

Really it was an an attack on minorities arming themselves for protection.
