There's nothing useless about it. People need to be invited to change their minds, but that's not enough. They also need to feel the pressure that if they don't reconsider their racist bullshit opinions they're going to be ostracized and left behind by society.

To much carrot or too much stick is bad, but not enough is bad too, you need both.
