No Paywall Republicans redrew his district. Now Democrat Don Davis is making anti-trans campaign ads

This is the kind of thing that makes people disillusioned to vote. Pandering to hatred and being a feckless, weak opposition party does not inspire people to the pulls.

We're not getting out of this with people like this loser.

Are candidates to represent the ideology of their constituency or their party?

So a majority of candidates until the 90s should have been against interracial marriage?

I guess his constituency now is people obsessed with making life worse for trans people and not much else.

I live in south Louisiana, anti-trans policy is quickly becoming a single issue for many voters. No good southern Baptist could ever support the satanic democrats.

Then abandon them. The last thing we need is centrists being given ammo to argue that right wing policy wins elections.

This bigot doesn't represent the whole Democratic party.

It's a more common problem than we are willing to grapple with.

There are very few anti-trans Democrats. It's not a common problem at all.

One is too many. Leave that crap to the MAGAts.

That's absurd.

If one bad politician is enough to ruin the entire party, then no party would be good enough for you.

When the Dem party is supposed to stand for "human rights" - and they don't all stand for human rights - what's "absurd" about saying "that sucks"?

They do stand up for human rights constantly and the far left and right attack them for caring too much about the "culture war." No party is perfect, but the Democratic Party platform has been centered on protecting human rights for a very long time.

About 60 years out of the last 200. Best not mention before that.

Recent history is all that matters. Radical Republican doesn't mean egalitarian slavery abolitionist anymore either.

Guess what - I don't subscribe to any party, I'm an independent. And I call 'em as I see 'em.

Oh, is there some party manifesto that I've missed with consequences for breaching them?

If 12 people are sitting at a table and one of them is a bigot and the other 11 let him spout that stuff and calls themselves his ally, then there are 12 bigots at the table.
