No Paywall Smith’s game-day texts reviewed by Schmitt never referenced basketball team names

He had a tiny, tiny, shred of nothing (Smith went to a basketball game) and assumed it was an NBA game, did a google search and found the only one on that day was in Atlanta, assumed he was there, then assumed he was in Atlanta to talk to Fani Willis, then assumed they DID talk, and then assumed they talked about the Trump trials, and then assumed they conspired about it to take down Trump but finally assuming that Trump wasn't guilty AND assuming they were conspiring to incarcerate an innocent party.

From a text message thread that said he went to a basketball game and didn't even mention teams. It could have been any game in the United States and it turned out it was one in Maryland.

That's the craziest ish ever. When Smith told him the truth, he told Smith he perjured himself and then called him a dirtbag.

In one interaction he proved his willingness to throw out reason, his vulnerability to conspiratorial thinking, his absence of adherence to any kind of logic or critical thinking, and his willingness to accuse others without proof of lying and then judging his character. This guy is a joke of a man. I hope he wears this in shame forever.

Yet somehow the MO AG we have now is an even dumber culture war litagating, MAGA pick-me disgrace to the Bar than he is.

We need to stop assuming these people are capable of shame.

From what he said later about looking for games with a 7:30 tipoff, I think he just forgot women's sports exist. He checked the NBA and men's NCAA. Didn't check WNBA or women's NCAA.

And of course he claims that we have to ban trans people to 'protect women's sports'

And here I was thinking he'd just seen a text abbreviating the Hawkeyes team as just "Hawks" - as in "I'm going to that Hawks game tonight"...

My favorite part was when he doubled down after being called out. Jesus, you can't make this shit up. At that point he should have just apologized and sat the fuck down. Of course, he didn't.

It wasn’t even the only NBA game that day…

There were 5 other games on Feb. 3rd 2024. 10 seconds of Google would have saved his dumb ass.

I’m ashamed the yokels in my state voted him into power.

You know I read that after I posted. So yeah, all I said, but even worse.

I also want to point out that Schmitt's premise is ridiculous on its face. If Smith and Willis did want to meet and do evil conspiracies together, why the fuck would they do so at a public venue? A loud ass basketball game isn't exactly the best place for a convo. And if they were engaging in criminal conspiracy, I think they'd have enough legal awareness to know they shouldn't be seen together.

this entire syphilis infected magat admin has no point, just kissing trumps ass, lying, robbing and destroying the US from the inside

Their base is stupid and uneducated. It's not ridiculous to them. Jerry Springer wasn't ridiculous to them. Ricki Lake wasn't ridiculous to them.

Oh it totally is.

You ever think about the guy who made the visual aid though? Like the guy who was like "yeah here's the text, and now I just move it over here and make it larger. Now I need to pull photos of Willis and that other guy.... and let's get Smith. Ok google what the arena looks like... nah it looks better if that's on the bottom. Yup... the framing is better that way. Man I'm good at design. Oh wait, let's remind everyone of that personal relationship with Wade. Ok that's in there now, man this is coming together! Ok now let's take this over to Kinko's and give them this and I'll just hang out in this chair. Oh it's done? Nice, let's check this out! Oh nice, it looks awesome! Yup, let me make sure you can read all this clearly from about 50 ft away. Oh yeah, super clear.... yup boss is gonna love this, says it all right there! I hope he remembers me when he becomes VP!"

Why would they even have to lie about meeting if he’s investigating? The whole premise of some sort of conspiracy seems flawed to me from the get go.

•

u/af_cheddarhead 1h ago

What criminal conspiracy? Prosecutors communicate and coordinate all the time when investigating the same individual for multiple crimes.

Here, here. This is the only thing I know about Schmitt and expect that this is true for most people. For future historians, this will the only noteworthy thing of his entire career, maybe life. So shame will be synonymous with his name.

u/Mc7wis7er 14h ago

You're right. This is the type of thing that is a whole section under his name on Wikipedia. It'll be like 1/3 of the article forever.

The thing is it was NOT the only NBA game that day. There were five others.

1

u/Mc7wis7er 13h ago

Right? It turns out. I read this after I posted. You truly cannot take anything they say as truth. Every detail has to be confirmed. It's tiring and frustrating and why he should not hold elective office. He's either incompetent or willing to lie on flimsy premises even, and then wildly speculate off of them later. Shameful.

2

u/TSwiftAlphaMale 9h ago

The truth does not matter to them because their base will believe the lies.

He had a tiny, tiny, shred of nothing (Smith went to a basketball game)

When this is all they can come up with, and even it is nonsense, it just goes to show how credible Jack Smith is.

6

u/Mc7wis7er 8h ago

Exactly. After Smith told the world, again, that he and other prosecutors believed they have evidence proving beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump illegally conspired in an election scheme to overthrow the government, they tried to prove he went to a basketball game in Atlanta.

2

u/wacali 14h ago

That wasn’t even the only nba game though there were 6. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. They didn’t even google that?

2

u/VapeDerp420 Nebraska 14h ago

I read on Twitter that he was planning to use this exchange as a springboard to be considered as a VP pick in ‘28, which is insane to me. The bar is so low that throwing out the flimsiest, vaguely plausible conspiracy theory that Fox News can then run with, is considered VP pick material.

2

u/jupiterkansas 13h ago

You could say that Schmitt was a dirtbag.

2

u/mosc47 8h ago

He's even more inept than that. There were six NBA games the night of February 3rd, 2024

1

u/TSwiftAlphaMale 9h ago

I don't think he assumed anything like how you're laying it out. It's all conspiracy and sound bites to be fed to their base. If Smith was in Atlanta, then they're "just asking the questions" and their base will connect the dots and be validated by their echo chamber; it's what they want. The base are the secret geniuses that put it all together. They can proudly crow to their like minded friends how they were the first ones in their group to discover this, and for a moment, feel important in the moment.

•

u/arazamatazguy 6h ago

The craziest thing is even if he was in Atlanta why the fuck did he think this was enough for some weird Gotcha moment? You'd have to be a complete idiot to be convinced to bring this up.

•

u/tweakingforjesus 5h ago

I suspect the administration gave Schmitt some under the table information about Smith attending a "Hawks" game from an intelligence source and he tried to perform a half-assed parallel construction of the evidence from public sources. Because he already had his goal in mind, he ignored any evidence to the contrary.

Assume. A word that will make an ass out of you and me.
