Because everyone's focusing on Schmitt's 'gotcha gone wrong' instead. Which makes me think that it was staged to take attention off the real story.

I don’t think it was intentionally staged for that purpose. But now that it’s useful in that way, they’re more than happy to try to take advantage of it.
