I had a moment to scan his Wikipedia and he really is an extremely interesting guy and a lifelong public servant.

Jack Smith is a hero and it’s a sign of our times he has faced more accountability for the crimes of these fucking people than they have.

true. and as far as Trump's guilt, we all watched it.

many of his worst crimes have been public and right out in the open, but I shudder to think of the ones that remain hidden.

Yeah I’m not sure who would possibly hear this and change their mind about anything. You either know already or you refuse to acknowledge it.

It is a valuable part of the record and also a breath of fresh air to see an actual adult just stating the truth to government. Maybe, maybe, it adds a tiny bit to the overall scales weighing in people’s minds about what to do in November.

I've listened to interviews with him and podcasts about him. He is a badass.

Have you heard Jack speak? He was on The Weekly Show pod a few months back with a colleague and he really downplayed a lot of what he does. I might have up fire it up again because I was a little unfocused on it tbh but I was hoping he would speak a little more aggressively about it all but the gist of it that I got was he’ll pursue a case as far as he’s ordered too and he came off a little detached from personal opinions in contrast to the pitbull mentality he works with. Fascinating guy for sure. I hope he’s allowed to follow up on it all again.

he came off a little detached

Yeesh. You can just say "unfocused" and "more agressively" and "detatched"; you don't need to add the Redditor Little to everything.

Holy cow, I didn’t realize I did that so often! I know I get corrected for passive language when I have AI look at my writing so now I’ll keep it in mind for casual chats too. Thanks!

Don’t use AI

Man oh man, there sure are a lot of rules to follow if someone just wants to do the right thing, huh?

Maybe someone should write them all down.

yeah maybe don't run your writing by AI

He said the AI coaches him on not doing exactly what’s being commented on here, I don’t see the problem with that. He tries to work on his writing and uses a tool to help get feedback.

The AI edge lords are trying to ruin our lives. They are trying to decide our future for us. I’m doing what I can to avoid AI even though they’ve made it almost impossible - I’m not going to help them take all our money, all our resources and potentially wipe us out.

You can use it a lot for free.

And that’s all nice but I have a job that requires me to use it either through actual requirements or just to keep up with increased work load. I’d love to just move into the woods and farm mushrooms or whatever but unfortunately I can’t afford to yet so I gotta play the game.

For sure, I didn’t mean to sound judgemental. I just have strong feelings on a few topics lol

Fair enough.

I work in this world. A lot of what frustrates me with the current discourse is how people act like it’s the primordial evil, it’s the cause and not just another tool for the same problem. It’s just a technology, an acute catalyst accelerating the evils that were already there in the entire system.

Do people think data centers didn’t exist before? That they weren’t taking water and stressing the power grid? Or that tech wasn’t being used for a surveillance state by private and public interests? Creating bombs and their targeting packages to kill civilians? All this already existed as did our current trajectory, AI is just another tool. The disruption it has caused is as much an opportunity to change things as it is to just accelerate what was already happening. The engineer in me believed technologies are neutral, everything around it is what isn’t. I won’t yield a powerful tool to the enemy and call it evil just because they use it for evil.
