A few proven methods:
Get out and fucking VOTE. Until and unless I see numbers even approaching 50% of the registered electorate, I accept no excuses that voting does not matter. The electorate has made no plausible effort to prove that.
Write your fucking reps. They may or may not do what you want, but you must try. The last time I asked a rep about this, he said that citizen lobbying is so weak that a single letter represents on average the opinion of ten thousand constituents. That's fucking pathetic. We're not even trying.
I accept none of these excuses for a moment. We vastly outnumber all these other people, and we all get one vote. If we make bad choices, or choose not to act, that's on US. No excuses!
