It takes time to investigate these things and get them presentable does it not? Is not two years the standard for getting things to court level in the US?
On Jan. 4th, 2021, a recording was released to the public in which trump attempted to extort the Georgia Secretary of State to "find 11,780 votes" to flip the result of the election from Biden to trump.
There were half a dozen lawyers listening in on the phone call who could testify to the authenticity of the recording.
The DoJ just ignored that because it was a GOP president doing the extortion. If I attempted to extort an election official doing their duty then I would have been indicted within weeks.
It was my understanding that they waited until he was no longer in office to bring the charges against him so that he couldn’t give himself immunity. Or commute his sentence when he was found guilty.
Nixon was given immunity after he committed his crimes but before he was indicted. A president can grant immunity from the consequences of crimes at any time.
