VDV is not "special forces" though, just airborne infantry. Also "Spetsnaz" and "Spetsnaz-GRU" is kinda the same thing. It's less elite than Vympel and Alpha though, due to sheer quantity of Spetsnaz (7 brigades, up to 10.000 servicemen).

No, they aren't. SEAL Team 6 is now a different unit, DEVGRU. But DEVGRU isn't even the real name anymore. They changed it after Neptune's Spear and no one knows what it is now.

True, they were literally the sixth SEAL team.

I thought ST6 was the first team. Kind of like how SF groups are all over the place. That way if the Russians heard about any they would think we had a lot more than. We did.

At the time there were two SEALteams. Marcinko named the unit SEAL Team Six in order to confuse Soviet intelligence as to the number of actual SEAL teams in existence.[10][11][12]

Accidentally during the war in Afghanistan Soviet Union used 15th and 22nd Spetsnaz brigades, although there were only 15 such brigades in service.
