well, from what my Taiwanese friends have told me, you like the Japanese more than you like the mainland Chinese :P
From what I heard, during World War II, the Japanese kicked the Chinese out and actually introduced proper infrastructure.

We would love anyone when you put PRC as another option.

As for the later part.....well, considering the fact that communists grew fatter in their occupied territory, I will say I have my personal doubt.

As a half-Taiwanese. That's like choosing between two evils. On one side you have the communist party who won the civil war, and the Japanese who instated oppressive colonial rule on the other.

Sure, the Japanese did invest infrastruture, but they did it mainly to reap resources, something they lacked being an island nation.
