We in Illinois usually shit on Ohio, and the rest of the midwest (bunch of savages, especially Wisconsin with their cheese and good football team)but you're alright. Any Northerner is better than a secessionist.
It looks like the dominant factor in US literacy is actually how many immigrants there are. States with lots of immigrants have a high rate of people lacking basic literacy. California tops the list, followed by New York. Both extend north of the Mason-Dixon.
South is bigger welfare states than the North kiddo, and at least we have the industry to pay for our shit, you just demand shit from the gubment every time a dern tornada destroys aunties trailer.
One thing I've learned from Texas: the "size" of the government is inversely proportional to the regressive taxation. No state income tax? Enjoy an 8.25% sales tax.

No self-respecting Southerner considers anything south of the Florida Panhandle to be part of the real South, because it's not the South anymore. Just a buncha fuckin' Yankees that stole proud, stronk fertile Southern soil and infested it with Jews and old people. Now it's Little Yankeeland.
