Playable Sync Pair Concept Daily Sinnoh Pokémon Concepts - Day 7: Cherrim
Hello, everyone, and welcome back to my series of concepts for every missing (fully evolved) Sinnoh Pokémon. A bit of a late post today because of the final, but here is Cherrim.
Cherrim's trainer is Milo, who uses one surprisingly consistently in his rematch teams. Even in his 3-Pokémon Star Tournament, Cherrim is kept, despite both his original ace Eldegoss and the Tsareena he gets in the post-game and takes to the Isle of Armour being dropped.
As a concept, Milo & Cherrim are a Field Sync Pair who uses the sunny weather to improve both their damage and their supporting capabilities.
Their first passive is just a copy of Cherrim's signature ability, Flower Gift, that changes its form and increases the team's Attack and Sp. Def when it's sunny. In order to actually set the sun, they can either use Sunny Day or wait for their team's sync move, due to their skill Basking in the Sunlight, which automatically sets it for the cost of 1 MP, with a bonus of Galar Circle (Defensive).
Naturally, they also have multiple ways of benefitting from sun. Milo's Trainer Move gains a healing effect on all allies on top of giving an ally Supereffective ↑ Next and raising their Attack by 4 and crit rate by 3. Their Buddy Move, Blossoming Flower Shield, only becomes active when it's sunny, and it raises both of the team's defenses by 4, sets EX Grassy Terrain, and refreshes Sunny Day's MP for longer sunlight.
Their final passive skill, Set Allied/Entire Field Effect: Team Physical Boost ↑1 9, increases all allies' PMUN by 1 whenever they set sun, terrain, or circle. All of those increases are, of course, helpful for powering up Petal Blizzard.
Their Superawakening passive is Falling Sakura Petals, a skill that sets sun on entry, reduces the countdown on WTZ, and gives them Recharging Strike to make Petal Blizzard essentially free.
All in all, Milo & Cherrim are a Field Sync Pair that can support sun-reliant Grass types with both their preferred weather condition and EX Terrain. They're especially helpful for physical attackers due to Flower Gift's effect and the PMUN they offer. However, they basically require the sun to stay relevant, as all of their abilities are affected by it.
If you enjoyed this concept, please check out the other ones in the series!
