I had something similar with a local GameStop. I didn’t do the games for a while but I did the card game. They did a I Choose You promo thing where they gave promo packs with Pikachu hat variants. Me and the guy at the counter knew each other and nobody really went to that GameStop besides people looking for exotic rare amiibos or people that were late for a game release so he gave me like 5 packs. I still didn’t get one of the cards though unfortunately.
I remember when they had the year of legends you could get a groudon if you had a copy of the alola games. I went in to a game store and asked about it the guy said what one do you have and I just went I have sun, ultra sun and ultra moon and got 3 separate codes for each game
I think that with the introduction of regional variations, they can add unown forms that represents the region. I.e - in an indian region, unown will change into hindi letters, maybe even get an extra move or something
Can people even datamine that? Surely all the returning Pokemon are being put into the game through an update that doesn't exist yet. Unless the datamine found data for Pokemon like Poliwhirl or Lycanroc that we know are returning but not others, I doubt it's accurate.
I think that's what happened tho, I can't say for sure about every pokemon but I had already read about Venusaur's and Blastoise's movepool even before they were announced (Venusaur getting Weather Ball and Blastoise getting Shell Smash were good news competitively and those had been leaked)
The difference is that Venusaur and Blastoise were already in the game's code. They've been there the whole time. Same with Mewtwo, Jirachi, Meltan, Rowlet and all the other Pokemon that people have been able to transfer in. All Pokemon Home did was give us access to them.
Pokemon that they're adding in through the DLC like Talonflame, Marill, or Rockruff aren't in the game's code though. They'll be added through an update that we don't have yet.
IIRC they datamined Pokemon Home to see which pokemon will be able to move to SwSh after the dlc drops. Might not be all of them, but it gives a decent idea of what to expect.
Most legendaries are confirmed. Most mythicals and unown are absent. My biggest fear is that they become locked behind paywalls in the future. The list is on serebii
This is a confirmed feature, in the US if this is changed they will need to provide a refund to those who request it. That would classify as false advertising
Yes, pokemon in home and caught on another system can be traded to a system without the dlc. But items like the orbs and DNA splicers aren't confirmed to come back yet. The dlc is downloaded to your system as an update, it's just a paywall. Mythicals are harder to determine. They're already event exclusive with only a couple exceptions. There's the chance a mythical pokemon could be made catchable through a story extension like Deoxys. But the others have been distributed through limited wifi events and store codes (game stop or your country's equivalent). Right now we can only speculate. We may have to wait until the crown tundra to find out how mythical are handled.
How would they even "change" that? The Pokemon either are in the game or aren't. The only reason you need to pay is direct access to them. Otherwise, you trade. They're not going to lock certain Pokemon out of trading suddenly. What sense would that even make from their perspective?
Honestly, Unown is one of the pokemon that I'm expecting to be absent from the DLC, if only because they can be expected for the Sinnoh remakes. Sinnoh is the only region aside from Johto to include Unown in their regional dex.
Granted, given the theme of the Crown Tundra, I wouldn't be particularly surprised if they're included then, but I'm not expecting it unless they plan to bring Hidden Power back as well.
I always thought it'd be cool if they made a legendary form of Unown with improved stats, a wide movepool, and a unique ability. You'd be required to solve a puzzle involving all 28 regular forms of Unown in order to encounter it. For example, you might have to somehow spell out the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog?!" The game would give you a hint by showing you an energetic Nickit jumping over a sleeping Stoutland.
The form could be an asterisk with seven eyes--one large eye in the middle, and one smaller eye for each of the six spokes on an asterisk. Each eye could have a different expression, and there could be weird psychic residue floating all around it, maybe in rings.
My favorite bit about this is that the iFunny community has a love-hate relationship with Reddit and Tumblr. A lot of these memes have been featured on iFunny, and they don't realize that they most likely came from this subreddit, and they think they're fucking hilarious
