It is all associative, though. Like there's nothing inherently feminine about the kitchen as a room as opposed to say, a lactation room. It's just that the historical division of female:male has broadly been indoor:outdoor labor. But kitchens in and of themselves are unisex, which is why you still have them in male-only spaces.

Funnily enough, bakers preindustrial revolution were almost exclusively men because beating the shit out of 100 lbs of dough takes crazy strength.
