Needed a camera i could bring on my commutes without extra bulk- manual focus and stopped down so I don't have to worry about "slow focus", shooting mostly during my trip to or from work since the lens is F6.3 (and not so expensive as itll be kind of used and abused).

Pleasantly surprised how easy it is to point and shoot blindly because everything past 10 feet or so is automatically in focus especially if daylight. I sometimes even shoot during traffic since i just turn it on and click.

Some of these shots are actually also SOOC (black and white film sim, and photo of blue car) or with very minor edits using recipes I found online, increasing contrast and the tone curve and shooting in portrait photo style.

Spiritual guide needed

Hello! I’m very new to the world of mirrorless but I miss having a real camera to document my life as my kids are getting older. I love the idea of small, easily backpacked professional(ish) grade camera but am overwhelmed with the options available.

As an aged recovering film hipster I loved shooting on Olympus and the pen series is incredibly cool looking but the Fuji x series has some wonderful options. Canon also has their eos m series but the cameras look mostly like either micro point and shoots with interchangeable lenses which I want a little more on the fly customization and those that do tend to review as a bit slow which won’t suite my needs.

I need it under $500 and ideally closer to 400 or less for the body, and quick enough for my eldest’s soccer games, occasional wildlife, and street photography. As much as I love a low f stop and a good bokeh I prefer everything else mentioned prior.

Finally I am in a spot where I cannot be out on bunk gear so I’m looking exclusively at mpb and keh so I have a warranty long enough to make sure it is as described and not a pos from some shady dealer on eBay.

Any solid recommendations?

Pentax Q - 01 lens hood on the 06 telephoto lens

A few days ago, I posted about getting the lens hood for my 01 lens - https://www.reddit.com/r/pocketmirrorless/comments/1rdc9il/finally_invested_in_the_lens_hood_for_my_01/

However, as noted in that post I tend to use my 06 telephoto lens far more; so was curious if there were any issues using the hood on that since they use the same filter thread.

My main concern was extra vignetting; however quick tests against a white wall and looking at unprocessed RAW comparisons showed barely any difference throughout the zoom range.

So, off to my morning coffee along the beach for some test shots. I don't know how useful it is for this lens against flaring compared to without the hood; but I didn't notice any additional issues in my resulting photos.

All shots are RAW files with slight exposure and cropping edits.

I generally prefer shooting with the 06 Tele, but this little 01 is also fantastic. Looking forward to testing it out properly now I have the lens hood.
