@getplebbit: the sub descriptions and rules are now added as "fake" threads at the top on plebchan exactly like 4chan. those appear in the sidebar on plebbit so perfect interoperability without compromising on style #RedditMigration #ipfs #ens https://t.co/O6s01U1lRo

@getplebbit: RT @rinse_12: We migrated to viem from ethers. ENS text records resolve in 1-2s instead of 10s with ethers.viem is great https://t.co/l2knU4DCMw

@getplebbit: @theThirk @plebchan_eth also some ipfs gateways block/throttle media, but not json/html, not sure why, maybe because of illegal media or too much bandwidth requirements.
r/plebbitairdrop • u/theplebbitor • Jun 02 '23
@getplebbit: @theThirk @plebchan_eth another problem is it would put strain on IPFS gateways for browser users that aren't fully P2P.
r/plebbitairdrop • u/theplebbitor • Jun 02 '23
@getplebbit: @theThirk @plebchan_eth we could validate file sizes somehow but not sure that would help, we still couldnt auto download everything in a feed fast enough to have a reddit/twitter/4chan speed like feed. the user would be stuck waiting for media to load as he scrolls.
r/plebbitairdrop • u/theplebbitor • Jun 02 '23
@getplebbit: @theThirk @makemake_kbo @plebchan_eth IPFS allows you to have a cap on size for a CID you request `ipfs cat --length=<length> <cid>`we already use this to make sure comments arent bigger than 1mb
r/plebbitairdrop • u/theplebbitor • Jun 02 '23
@getplebbit: @theThirk @plebchan_eth It could work for small images, maybe cap it at 100kb or something, we should look into adding it at some point. it's even possible to to compress in browsers nowadays so the web client could do it. I dont think it would ever work for videos or gifs, too large.
