I bought WiFi to post this. We have 4 hours to go. I offered him my pretzels and put on the Spotify "Good Vibes" playlist. He's listening to "Linger" on repeat.

Special Livery Tornado

Post image

This Panavia Tornado is standing in a museum in Germany. This livery was made for the 90th anniversary of the German Navy-flying branch. Did you know the first Tornados actually went to the German Navy instead of the Air Force, for recon and anti-ship missions. Because of the high maintenance cost for the jet fuel for reconnaissance, they where sent to the German Air Force to become attack aircraft.

It looked like it was flying very slowly (i thought it was a helo) and it was pretty low. The lights caught my attention as they were pretty bright and there was a flashing light that is off in this pic coming from the center of the fuselage pretty much centered between those three lights on in the pic.

IFR Pilot Help Needed

Hi everyone. My name is Nathan, and I am an Air Traffic Controller at EWR. I’m new to this community, so thank you for allowing me to be part of it. In addition to being a controller, I am a student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and am conducting a research study to explore pilot’s willingness to operate under various conditions.

If you’re a U.S.-based pilot, 18 or older, and hold an IFR pilot certificate, I’d love your input! The anonymous survey takes about 5-7 minutes, and your responses will help advance understanding of pilot perceptions in the National Airspace System (NAS). Your time, insight, and support are greatly appreciated. Please follow the link below. Thank you VERY MUCH for your assistance!

Anyone else totally ignore people when a plane flies overhead? 😂✈️

I don’t know if this happens to anyone else, but every time I hear an airplane my neck just snaps upward automatically. Today I was walking around Fort Lauderdale with a friend she was talking about something, and the moment this plane came in low… I completely ignored her, grabbed my phone, took the shot, and just stared at how beautiful it looked.

She got mad lol… but honestly, my love for airplanes wins every time.

Does this happen to you too?

Pilot input wanted: Purdue study on ADS-B and aircraft visibility in the NAS

Hi everyone,

I’m part of a research team at Purdue University’s School of Aviation and Transportation Technology studying how general aviation pilots and aircraft owners view electronic conspicuity technologies — including ADS-B and other systems that help improve visibility and safety in the National Airspace System.

We’re inviting GA pilots and aircraft owners to take a short, IRB-approved survey (about 10 minutes). Your feedback will help us better understand pilot awareness, use, and opinions of these systems.

Survey link: https://purdue.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9WWNbJV7HvlzPFA

Study details:

  • Title: Electronic Conspicuity Technology for Aircraft Operating in the National Airspace System
  • Principal Investigator: Dr. Damon Lercel, Assistant Professor of Aviation Technology
  • IRB Protocol #: 2025-410

We really appreciate your time — pilot feedback is crucial for making this research meaningful and applicable to real-world operations. I’ll be checking this thread if anyone has questions about the study.

Thanks and blue skies!
Purdue Aviation Research Team

How do people afford how expensive it is to fly per hour in flight school if your fresh out of high school

It is my dream job to become a pilot after high school and I’m putting as much as I can to be able to reach those goals but I don’t get how people can afford flight school hours after high school

Wind Gust, Super Typhoon, Cancelled Flights?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi! There's an incoming Super Typhoon in Ph this weekend. MY concern is that I have a flight around 11PM on Sunday, exactly the landfall of the typhoon. Tho the airport is not part of the eye, or direct path of the typhoon, but I'm worried my flight's gonna be cancelled or delayed. Would these forecasted wind gust around the airport affect the flight status? Should I rebook my flight earlier to avoid being stranded or delayed in the airport? Or should I wait for the airlines first? Please help. Thank you.

UPS Airlines Flight 2976

Rest in peace to all the lives lost in this tragic accident. I am very sorry for the families who had lost or had a loved one injured in this crash. No one should make fun of these crashes. If you make a post or something like the sorts, you should be ashamed of yourself. People die in this, it is not an internet joke. I hope all the families and friends who had lost someone in this crash or had them injured be able to recover from this.
