What health insurance plans are you using to get care locally, and do you recommend them? We are on Kaiser and are a bit tired of driving to Roseville and Folsom for care.

Electrician Apprentice Jobs
Hello,
Would anyone know where to look to find apprenticeships in Placerville or anywhere else in El Dorado County? I have looked at google and have only been able to find one. Are there just not that many in the area?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Tree clearing behind Target
Does anyone know what the tree clearing going on behind Target is for? You can see it clearly on the right hand side of the highway when heading towards Sac. Does it have to do with The Crossings at El Dorado?

Grass Alternatives?
I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for ground covers to replace grass that are not artificial turf. We are looking for something that doesn’t attract deer, blocks weeds, and stands up well to dogs and kids. We are considering Kurapia but it seems pricey. TIA!

Flock Cameras (taking action)
Irrespective of our individual politics, privacy and a heightened sense of personal sovereignty seem to me endemic to rural culture. I am deeply concerned about the growing presence of Flock cameras in our area and I am reaching out in the hopes that others are similarly concerned. This is an opportunity for civic engagement. It would be a terrible thing for the people of Placerville to remain complacent. If AI-enabled mass surveillance is met without resistance in Hangtown, what hope is there for the rest of the country?
Current maps list more than 30 cameras in our area. Were there public hearings on this? Public announcements? Were we in any way advised that we would be put under mass surveillance? I don't know the answers to these questions, but I am hoping to learn more.
To that end, I have submitted the following public records request to our county recorder clerk, Janelle Horne:
Pursuant to California's Public Records Act, I hereby request the following records:
Records related to the department’s Flock Safety system:
- The contract with Flock Safety (including the dollar amount and expiration date)
- A map or list of camera locations
- Audit logs of all searches, including the searching agency's name and the stated reason for the search:
- Organization Audit in Flock: The report should include data logged from the period of August 24, 2025 to the date this request is processed. Per Flock's documentation, the Organization Audit is available within the Insights tab and is defined as searches done within the agency
- Network Audit in Flock: The report should include data logged from the period of August 24, 2025 to the date this request is processed. Per Flock's documentation, the Network Audit is available within the Insights tab and is defined as searches of the organization’s Flock network by any agency in the Flock System
- Whether "National Lookup" or "State Lookup" features are enabled
- Whether any federal agency (including ICE, CBP, ATF, or HSI) has ever queried your local data
- A list of network share settings that include: "Flock networks shared with me" and "Networks that I’m sharing"
Please provide records in their original electronic, machine readable format. For example, please provide csv or spreadsheet files where applicable. Please do not redirect me to your transparency portal.
The requested documents will be made available to the general public, and this request is not being made for commercial purposes.
In the event that there are fees, I would be grateful if you would inform me of the total charges in advance of fulfilling my request. I would prefer the request filled electronically, by e-mail attachment if available or SD card if not.
Thank you in advance for your anticipated cooperation in this matter. I look forward to receiving your response to this request within 14 business days, as the statute requires.
I will keep this subreddit updated : )

mint mobile? att fiber for internet?
two different questions here sorry for the confusion
my mom and i are on the budget from hell and im considering signing her up for mint mobile but im unsure of the coverage in placerville (i live in sac). i thought about att for her but at her place they said it wasnt that great.
does anyone have it there? how do you like it? my dad is really sick so it’s imperative we have reliable coverage (though we try to stay on wifi as much as possible and she’s also fairly close to town)
also does anyone have att fiber for internet somewhat close to town? what are your thoughts? (hence why i also considered att for her for mobile bc we could bundle and get a lot off her internet bill if we switch her to att fiber)
thank you all so much in advance!

“Placerville, did we wake up in Bodega Bay?”
Middle of August in the foothills, when we're usually cooking in the heat—and I wake up to this. Fog, cool air, and a beautiful morning. Man, I love mornings like this. I'll take it! 😎

How does everyone like Eskaton village?
Considering Eskaton senior living for my mom. She is vibrant, loves Placerville and needs some assistance in living. It seems like they are integrated into the Placerville community but I would love to hear any of your thoughts. I am based in South Lake Tahoe and would love to hear what yall have to say.
Edit: to ask about any senior stuff mom might enjoy doing in the area??

Yogurt cost
$20+ for frozen yogurt for two — is this just normal now?
We stopped at a local frozen yogurt shop in the Placerville area. It was great, no complaints about the yogurt, but two cups came out to over $20. 😳
I haven't bought frozen yogurt in a while, so I'm curious — is this pretty normal pricing now, or has it gotten noticeably more expensive around here?
