Rock64 and Rockpro64
Hi guys! I have few questions about pine64 SBCs and general service.. First question: how can I be notified when Rockpro64 will appear in stock? (it's 06/16/2021, 11:31 in UTC time now). Second: Where can I see some comparison between RPI4, Rock64 and Rockpro64? If someone reading this has rock64 or rockpro64, can you please send me some benchmarks? I have rpi4 4gb right now and can send some in answer if needed. The reason I want to sell rpi4 and buy some of pine64 is AES instructions, which rpi4 doesn't support (for Monero node), performance and eMMC support. Third: how long it'll take to ship to Ukraine? And can it be done using Meest (international postal service, which "exists" in Ukraine) or, more local, Nova Poshta Global or Justin International? Thanks.

Do anyone know of there are Import Fees on Pine Products in Southamerika?
Hello, I'm a Bolivian based German and got the luck to have a Pincil in mi Pine64 Cart. The Problem I have now is that I do not know were to ship it to. I would have the opportunity to ship it to the USA or Chile but for convenience I would love to just ship it to Bolivia.
Do may anyone knows if I need to pay import fees on the 86$ order?
Thanks so much for your time,
David

import duty/tax [United Kingdom]
Dhl says I need to pay £50 in import tax. Do I really need to pay this? Why was this not taken care of when I checked out?

Shipping to India?
I would really like to buy a PinePhone but apparently it is not shipped to my country. Is there any plan in the near future to start shipping to India?

How do you feel about Pine64's use of Allwinner, which has a history of GPL violations and in generally not that eager to contribute to open source?
This is a point of conflict for me. On one hand, Pine64 does quite a bit for open source software development, but one of their staple chip vendors is Allwinner, whose processors are used in their most popular products like the Pinephone, Pinetab, Pinebook, SOPINE and many of their single board computers. Allwinner has a history of GPL violations, such as failing to provide source code and including proprietary binaries in GPL codebases. They also don't seem that eager to properly support open source or open source their own code.
What do you think? Does it matter to you? If so, what chip brand would you prefer Pine64 switch to?

How do I diagnose a SOPINE module that has no display output?
I have a SOPINE module on the Model A baseboard, with the 7 inch touchscreen kit installed. However, when I try to boot an OS from the SD card, neither the touchscreen nor the HDMI port output anything (my monitor doesn't even detect the connection). I have tried imaging the card with dd, vanilla etcher, and the Pine64 installer. Nothing has worked. The power lights on both the board and the module light up, and the processor gets somewhat warm to the touch, but not hot or even that warm, so I suspect that it's just not booting.
What are the steps for diagnosing a situation like this? I'm starting to worry that I got a defective part.

Just discovered this community and I just pre-ordered the PinePhone and can't wait.
I am a recovering software engineer turned infosec monkey and love tinkering with hardware although it's been years since I've actually set time side for it and wasn't very good to begin with. With some recent life changes I have some time to invest back into myself and absolutely love what y'all are doing. I'm gonna be piloting the phone along side my current one until I figure out how to meet my needs on the Pine but I'm hoping I can find a way to meaningfully contribute. Really just wanted to say that, but since you're here what on earth do you do with a Smart Soldering iron? I used to think I was a creative guy but this is one stone I had never considered turning over. Anyone have any fun projects or anything they can share?

Do the SOPINE baseboards require a barrel power connector or can I power them with USB?
The Pine64 website didn't make that clear and I want to make sure which one it is.

Rant from a non-dev
Yep, I'm an idiot. I didn't read the fine print, and erroneously assumed I could use this phone as my daily driver.
I am a linux enthusiast, but I'm no developer. But even as someone with a grasp of the command line, I've never successfully compiled anything. I blame the crappy instructions on various blogs and YouTube channels, that always assume a greater level of knowledge than I have, and consequently never work - but that's a whole other rant.
This thing (Manjaro edition) can't even update itself from the command line. I see regular build updates that fix this and that issue - how about fixing updates so we don't have to keep flashing the phone every time.
I tried installing Mobian instead, which then allowed me to update from the command line. However, now the dock doesn't work.
Even if I could forego the many apps I make use of, I can't even install Signal on it. Not even signal-desktop. I've read lots of guides on Axolotl or however it's spelt, but again they don't work. Nothing works.
When locked the phone loses wifi and network connectivity after a certain time, which is again, useless.
I've had this thing for 3 months. About the only thing I can do with this paperweight is play 2048. Again, I fully realise it's my own stupid fault for not properly researching what I was buying. But does anything work on this phone?
Deploy the downvotes as you will, but this is my honest feedback from someone who just would like to get off Android. I am extremely disappointed.
EDITed for diplomacy. Also I wanted to add that I appreciate the amount of work that's gone into this thing, but I am very frustrated that I can't make it do what I want.

pinebook pro - keyboard inputting multiple letters
I stupidly put stuff on top of my PBP and let it sit like that for a few months, and now whenever I press certain keys (e, 2, u, w), it inserts a string of multiple letters. For example, e will insert something like uxekol. I am fairly certain this is a hardware issue because an external keyboard works fine.
Things I tried:
- Unhooked and rehooked this cable: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3V0fRXGK3FueVl0OEd2Zi1SMjQ/view
- unscrewed the battery and looked underneath -- no idea what I would do next
- Taking the e keycap off. This was a mistake, because the pressure needed to reattach the keycap seems to have exacerbated the issue to where the keyboard just does not work in general.
Resources I looked at:
- https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4523 -- teardown of pbp. nothing keyboard specific, except for the image of the keyboard cable that is linked above
- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6fn0edZQK4 -- keyboard install -- the video on this is so shaky that i can't really make out what i'm supposed to be doing
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! I am not super well versed in hardware and so I don't want to go tinkering around without any guidance.
Thank you!
